Multiple bedrooms

Jude Tugman, co-founder of architectural services company Architect Your Home, says: ‘This house had a large loft space, which the architect was able to convert relatively easily into two sizeable bedrooms, both of which incorporate room for a bed, storage for clothes and a work space. There is also a new shower room, shared by the bedrooms.’

The budget: £68,000

Light-filled suite

Jude Tugman says: ‘This loft had a good head-height, and by installing roof windows and a feature round window, this L-shaped space was ideal for being converted into a bright, spacious boutique-style master bedroom with an open-plan bathroom.’

The budget: £50,000

Jude Tugman says: ‘The brief was to add a bedroom and en suite shower room to a two-bedroom house. This home had a tight stairway, so in order to comply with regulations and get enough head-height, part of the staircase had to be included within the bedroom. With careful design, this added to the interest of the space. The bedroom has good head-height, plus French doors that open on to a full-width Juliet balcony add to the feeling of space.’
