Period Living is delighted to be supporting Made by Hand, Cheltenham, the designer-maker festival from the organisers of multi-award-winning events such as Made by Hand, Cardiff, and The Craft Festival.

Taking place between 8-10 March 2019, the festival, now in its second year, will be held at Cheltenham Town Hall, in the heart of the Cotswolds.
You will discover an exceptional, hand-picked selection of around 100 award-winning makers from all over the UK, selling directly to the public.
The highly skilled collection includes jewellers, potters, furniture makers, textile artists, glassmakers, wood workers and many more.
Made by Hand prides itself on giving modern designer-makers a wider platform, showing how their products can fit seamlessly into our modern lives.
Angela Ibbs creates unique hand-cut mosaic pieces as jewellery and interior objects, created from a mixture of glass, vintage ceramics, ceramic tiles and Italian millefiori
Made by Hand Cheltenham also offers a range of demonstrations, allowing you to get up close and meet the makers. Demonstrators include Lauren Aston Designs, better known as ‘The Queen of Giant Knitting’, who is joining the line-up from her studio in Devon with her giant needles; Jeremy and Carla Bonner of Cotswolds-based Bonner Leather Studio; and Louise McLaren, maker of beautifully intricate paper-cut images.
Takahashi McGil are a Devon-based husband and wife team that create handmade items from beautiful hardwood slabs that have been slowly air dried over a number of years
Marna Lunt creates pictures, brooches and lampshades with thread in a painterly way, inspired by the layers and colours from the North Yorkshire Moors to create a mix of landscapes, portraits and floral still life
Also, don’t miss the two-hour workshops on offer exploring various materials and techniques. Hosted by New Brewery Arts and The Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, the taster workshops for adults offer activities including weaving, calligraphy, pottery and bookbinding. Meanwhile, a range of free workshops for children will also be running throughout the weekend.
Bristol-based Kerry Day has a body of bright and bold work using the reduction lino cut method, screen printing and painting, along with botanical-inspired lino prints on paper and ceramics
Opening times are Friday and Saturday 8-9 March, 10-5pm, and Sunday 10 March, 10am-4pm. Adult daily tickets cost £7 (concessions £6). Alternatively, buy an adult weekend ticket for £13 (concessions £11). Accompanied children under 18 go free.
