We are going old school with this one people. This will take you back. We are going to show you how to make playdough. Yep, good old, tastes gross but you can eat it, homemade playdough. The kids are off school, you're probably working from home so you need something that doesn't have buttons and flashing lights to keep them entertained. Plus you can make this playdough together, more entertainment!

You will need:

  • 8 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 tbsp table salt
  • 60ml warm water
  • Food colouring
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • Rubber gloves 

Step one: mix the ingredients 

Sieve the flour into a bowl and stir in the salt. In a separate bowl mix together the wet ingredients, the water, the oil and a few drops of food colouring. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixing it together with a spoon until all the mixture has come together. 

Step two: knead the dough 

Yep just like you would bread. Pop on your rubber gloves and sprinkle some flour on a clean surface and keep kneading until you get a really nice smooth playdough. Add more food colouring now if you want a more vibrant colour.

Step three: store your playdough 

That's it, you can get playing! When your kids are done just pop it all in a lunch box, sandwich bags or even just wrap it in cling film and store it in the cupboard.
