The budget

The brief

To add a two-storey rear extension, creating a new master bedroom and en suite bathroom, plus a spacious living-dining area.

Jude Tugman of Architect Your Home (architect-yourhome.com) explains how the brief was achieved

‘With the addition of this two-storey rear extension, we were able to give the homeowner a stunning ground-floor living-dining area, and a light-filled master bedroom positioned above, which included a stunning floor-to-ceiling picture window.

‘The rest of the house was reconfigured to enable the kitchen to be moved to the front of the property and the living area to be relocated to the rear, where the garden could be fully appreciated. We were also able to help the owners with the design of the new kitchen and bathroom so that the interior of the house retained a feeling of consistency throughout.’

In the gallery: To dramatically modernise an uninspiring exterior, a bright and airy rear extension has been added along with a new roof and sandstone-effect cladding.
