If you've been thinking about getting a KitchenAid mixer, you've probably been thinking for a good while. KitchenAid mixers are world-renowned for their superb power and quality – and they're also rather expensive. Thankfully, the KitchenAid Black Friday sales this year have delivered on some pretty good deals on nearly all of the KitchenAid mixer models. The question then is: which one should you get? From the classic mixer to the Artisan and Pro versions, the hierarchy of KitchenAid can be confusing. So, if you don't want to spend ages researching all the different models (although consulting our best stand mixer buyer's guide will make things easier), we'll tell which one you should definitely go for below.

KitchenAid Artisan 5KSM125BFG Stand Mixer with 4.8 Litre Bowl - Matte Grey | £450 £399 at AO (opens in new tab)

Quite possibly the best stand mixer KitchenAid make, the Artisan includes a mixing bowl, a wire whisk, a dough hook and a flat beater. Planetary mixing action ensures there are no lumps, and the variable speeds make is useful for everything from kneading dough to whipping cream. Parts are dishwasher safe, which makes for easy cleaning.

Still not sure?

Think of the Artisan as the perfect middle ground between a user-friendly stand mixer and a professional mixer. It's very powerful yet easy to use, and while there are lots of different attachments you can try out with this mixer, you can also just use it as it comes, which is already plenty.

Above all, the Artisan is built to last, because it's made from die-cast metal not plastic. This is one of the most prominent selling points of KitchenAid – products that will last decades rather than just a couple of years.

You also don't need to worry about this mixer hiking up your electricity bill. It has an innovative direct-drive motor that is very efficient at converting energy into powerful performance. So, you could use it every day if you wanted to, and it still won't make much of a difference to your energy consumption.

And if it's the large-sized 4.8-litre bowl you're unsure about, don't worry: while you can prepare huge quantities (think beating 12 eggs at a time), you don't have to use to capacity. Mix exactly as much or as little as you want.
