‘Choosing simple, neutral tiles will help marry an en suite to a bedroom,’ advises Laura Jones, head of product at Bathstore. ‘Think about using complementary flooring materials, such as wood with a similar-coloured ceramic, which will be more hard wearing in a wet area.’
Storage built in over a WC or recessed in a shower, wall-hung units under the basin or a mirror cabinet will all help keep the space tidy. ‘If you’re unsure of a fully fitted solution, make use of corners with painted shelving and hanging rails, then add a freestanding vanity unit,’ says Rachel Martin. Look out for products designed to maximise space. Sliding pocket doors work well to free up space, as do wall-hung WC pans, compact showers and a scaled-down bath.
