It's Alexa's birthday. Well it was yesterday, anyway. And while we wanted to wish her (it?) happy birthday, we were too busy writing Amazon deals round ups ahead of Black Friday.
Anyways... Amazon's smart assistant – who resides in some of the best smart speakers (according to our product tests) – turned five yesterday, having been released to Prime members on 6th November, 2014. Where did the time go? We couldn't tell you. But, what we do know is that Alexa has never been more intelligent than she is now. In fact, we'd say she's pretty successful for a five year old.
So, how have Amazon chosen to celebrate the birth of what might be their most genius invention, to date? By dropping the price of various Amazon devices, of course. With Black Friday just around the corner, what else did you expect?
We've spotted discounts on the Amazon Echo Dot range, which is super exciting because we think they're the most accessible devices for those who are new to the world of smart home technology. Small, with a stylish design and (almost) the full range of functions you'd expect from Alexa, they're perfect for testing the smart home waters without committing too much financially.

Wondering why we love the Amazon Echo Dot so much? We've shared our thoughts and feelings below:
Make the most of Alexa in a super small device
Despite being small in size, the Amazon Echo Dot makes use of all of Alexa's greatest features. Whether you want to set timers, play the radio, answer interesting facts or control other smart devices, it's super easy with Alexa's help. Plus, there are plenty of third-party apps – know as Skills – which allow you to customise your Alexa experience. For example, the Just Eat app allows you to order a takeaway with your voice.
The Echo Dot is one of the cheapest in Amazon’s range, so if you’re looking for an affordable way to control your smart home this may be it. Plus, they're currently discounted as we celebrate Alexa's birthday!
