Amazon Prime Day is coming, and this time the dates are certain: Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th July. Realhomes.com was the first to announce the leaked opening date a few weeks back, and now it's been made official after an email from Amazon's PR. And, unlike past years, when it's been limited to 24 or 36 hours, this year, it's a 48 hour bonanza (well, almost: it starts at 00.01am on the Monday and ends at 11.59pm on the Tuesday).

And, frankly, we'll need the extra time. With more than one million deals on offer globally, and the biggest ever deals on Amazon Alexa, this year's Amazon extravaganza will be well worth the wait. From furniture to fashion, and from smart tech to beauty, Prime Day will offer unparalleled discounts, as well as new launches leading up to the event.

'Get ready, as we pull back the curtain to reveal exclusive products, special performances and two full days of phenomenal deals this Prime Day,' says Jeff Wilke, Amazon CEO Worldwide Consumer.

'Our vision is that Prime Day should be the absolute best time to be a member – when you can enjoy shopping, savings, entertainment and some of the best deals Prime members have ever seen. Stay tuned as we reveal thousands of new product launches, as well as world-class entertainment and more, leading up to Prime Day on July 15 and 16.'

A selection of early deals are live on amazon.co.uk/primeday from today, with new deals going live throughout the lead up to Prime Day. Those new to Prime can sign up for a free trial at Amazon Prime membership (UK) or Amazon Prime membership (US) to make sure they don’t miss out.

Here's how Amazon announced the dates:

This year’s Prime Day sale is available to Prime members in the UK, US, Spain, Singapore, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, India, Germany, France, China, Canada, Belgium, Austria, Australia and – new this year – United Arab Emirates.
