We've started to think about Halloween decorations already (actually, certain members of the team have been being bugged about them by their kids since August). Who doesn't want their home covered in cobwebs and crawling with fake spiders? Who said a skeleton chillaxing in the corner of your kitchen had to be a bad thing? Well, it certainly wasn't us because we are (almost) dying for it to be Halloween so adorn our homes with pumpkins, bats and skulls.
Don't get us wrong, we aren't willing to empty our bank accounts. Getting sucked into spending too much at Halloween in the lead up to Christmas scares us. That's why we've found these bargain buys that'll have your house decked out for the spooky season in no time. And, they'll last beyond next year, too. We say, if you've got it, haunt it!
- Halloween costumes are in store now... get the whole family gorgeously ghoulish (without the scary price tag)
1. Best Asda Halloween decorations
If you want to prove to your guests that you have funny (and scary) bones, this life-size skeleton is the perfect prop. Pose it on a chair by your front door to scare trick-or-treaters or at your kitchen table, by the party snacks. Bone appetit! Life-Size Poseable Skeleton, £25.
So, if you're a Halloween fanatic and the life-size human skeleton is a little too mainstream for you, can we entice you with this rat skeleton (above) or perhaps a dog skeleton (below)? *Shiver* they are just so creepy. An unknowing guest wouldn't want to bump into these perished pets in the middle of the night! Skeleton Rat Decoration, £6.
We are always going to be strong advocates of using lighting to frame your room and Halloween is no exception. Giving your room a red, purple or green hue can certainly create a spooky vibe. Plus, the bat shape? Fangtastic. Neon Style Bat Light, £8.
2. Best eBay Halloween decorations
This cotton stretchy cobweb is the perfect way to immediately transform your room into a scary abandoned house. The spiders give that extra creepy touch. What's more, there's nothing scary about that price. Stretchy Cobweb Decoration with six Spiders, £2.46.
3. Best Amazon Halloween decorations
These pumpkin lanterns are battery powered and generate zero heat so they're safe inside or out, near the kids or not! However, the batteries aren't included so grab a couple of your own AA batteries and you're good to go! Led Pumpkin Lanterns x10, £9.88.
4. Best Wilko Halloween decorations
We're loving this pumpkin theme because every year so many real ones get bought and chucked. Why not buy this black pumpkin from Wilko which you can use year in, year out? Large Black Pumpkin, £5.
5. Best Sainsbury's Halloween decorations
Caution! Do not enter Sainsbury's if you don't want to walk out with a mountain of Halloween decorations in your basket. This tape is subtle but super effective. We suggest sticking it to a door that is being guarded by the skeleton from Asda (at the top of the article). Halloween caution tape, £1.
We love this entire Halloween spread (above), especially the Day of the Dead pumpkin! The purple and white adds a bit of colour to a usually dark and gloomy holiday so for the colour junkies among us, it's a no brainer. Day of the Dead Pumpkins, £5.
6. Best Tesco Halloween decorations
This table runner has that glam gothic look that we think is a steal at just £2! The perfect touch for your horrifying Halloween home. Tesco Web Table Runner, £2.
7. Best Aldi Halloween decorations
Terrifyingly delightful, this inflatable archway will offer a warm welcome to any Halloween fanatics that pass your door. From trick-or-treaters to house guests, it's a fun way to get people in the holiday spirit. Also, it's easy to inflate and comes with four LEDs so it lights up too! Pumpkin Inflatable Arch, £39.99.
8. Best Lidl Halloween decorations
Choose from a variety of designs. These hanging halloween party decorations are easy, cheap and cheerful. Halloween Party Decorations, £2.99.
9. Best Morrisons Halloween decorations
You can't go wrong with balloons. They're easy and timeless... (the concept, certainly not individually, when kids are about). Halloween Balloons 10 pack, £1.
10. Best Lights4Fun Halloween decorations
Want Halloween decorations that are a bit more refined? This Small Mottled Rose Gold Pumpkin Battery Light, £24.99 adds silhouettes of light that are quite magical. With a metallic finish, it looks just as elegant even when un-lit – so you can leave it out all year round. Team with green foliage and fairylights for an autumnal table centrepiece. These 10 Mottled Pumpkin Battery Fairy Lights, £19.99 (below), are pretty, too.
Forget elegant. We wanted to end on a bang – and you can't beat these Witch's Leg Lights (yes! Lights!), £19.99. Each leg houses one white LED for a ghoulish glow. Finished with bold purple and black striped tights, frilly socks and glittery black boots with a Puritan-esque silver buckle detail, they are an unmissable party prop! Love them!
