What I’ve learnt

‘To be patient – even though it took years to achieve what I wanted, I know that I will love this bathroom forever, as it’s classic and won’t date. It can be easy to rush in and carry out the work as quickly as possible, but sometimes it’s better to simply take your time in order to get the result that you want.’

My best buy

‘The tongue-and-groove panelling supplied by the builder was relatively inexpensive, yet it transformed the room. It works well with the country look that I was aiming for and it was inspired by my aunt and uncle’s house, which proved to be the starting point for the project.’

I couldn’t live without…

‘… the freestanding bath. It is the one thing that was always important to me. It feels like such an indulgence, and positioning the bath at an angle has given the room real wow-factor.’

My favourite spot

‘The shower is very practical and open, but you can’t beat relaxing in a bath. It’s my favourite place to unwind and gives me the chance to reflect on how far the house has come over the years.’
