Leave sleepless nights in 2019 and kickstart 2020 the right way, with help from the best pillow for side sleepers. Whether you are a side sleeper or you're buying for someone else, this sleeping position requires a pillow that's plump and firm –preferably hybrid or memory foam – more specifically: the Simba Hybrid Pillow.
Why? Sleeping on your side leaves a gap between your head and shoulders that needs to be filled. If it isn't filled with a pillow, your spine and neck won't align while you sleep, causing you to wake up in terrible pain. It really is crazy how much your pillow can affect the quality of your sleep.
The only way to solve this problem is to buy a pillow that has extra support. If you're super keen to buy the best pillow to suit your individual needs, lie down on your mattress (on your side) and measure the gap from your head to the pillow. This is the depth your pillow should ideally be.
Cleverly, the Simba Hybrid pillow is filled with memory foam tubes that can be removed or added to, offering an adjustable height feature most pillows can't. This is why we rate it the best pillow for side sleepers. More on that below.

Simba Hybrid pillow
This is the best pillow for side sleepers, scientifically engineered to offer the best night's sleep
Reasons to buy
Reasons to avoid
This Simba pillow has been scientifically engineered to give you the best night’s sleep possible – especially if you're a side sleeper.
Why we love this pillow
Adjustable height = perfect alignment. So, first, the adjustable height feature, which should allow you to achieve perfect alignment: the pillow comes with a zipper that allows you to access its interior and remove (or add back) the foam Nanocubes. The more foam is inside the pillow, the higher and firmer it feels. Our tester removed around three handfuls to get the desired height and level of firmness.
What's it like to sleep on?
This is a firm to medium firm pillow that's perfect for side sleepers who like a single pillow, but because you can adjust the pillow's thickness it works for back sleepers who need a shallower pillow, too. It has more of a sink-in quality than the memory foam pillows we tested, but won't give you the same soft sensation that a down or feather pillow will. That said, unlike down or feather, it holds its shape and barely needs re-plumping. Unlike traditional memory foam pillows, it's a cool place to lay your head each night.
