The UK's most desired properties all have this one feature. Does yours?

Demand for property with this feature has soared, and it's not a home office or fast broadband

The UK property is undergoing a transformation unlike any seen for decades – and it's not all to do with house prices and mortgage availability, even though these aspects of the property market have been much affected by Covid-19.

Brits have always been a nation of keen gardeners, but, until very recently, having a garden has been seen by many city dwellers as a nice dream that has little chance of materialising, or a 'nice to have' that a prospective house buyer or renter should be realistic about attaining.

There is plenty of evidence that this attitude has firmly shifted towards a strong desire and active searching. We've already reported on the rise in the number of people planning to move out to the countryside; now more data has emerged, showing that those who are staying put in cities and are renting also want to swap their current homes for those with outdoor spaces. Lockdown fever, anyone?

The rental app Movebubble are reporting a 193 per cent surge in demand for properties with garden across UK cities, and reveal some of the most sought after properties on the app – all of them with substantial outdoor spaces.

Live in London and want to feel like you live somewhere surrounded by luscious woodland? This refurbished family home in Fulham (above) has a stunning decked terrace, six bedrooms, two studies, and three bathrooms. It could be yours for a mere £9,533 per month. A perfect space for two families sharing, perhaps?

Property to rent in Manchester

And Manchester residents have been very actively eyeing up this very attractive two-bed rooftop apartment (above) in the chic Northern Quarter area of the city. It also has bike storage, a utility room, and a communal area for socialising with other residents. Prices for this type of flat in this block start at a very reasonable £1,045 per month.

These are just a few examples of what's out there for the UK's renters and prove that UK rented properties are not all cramped and low quality – far from it. If you're a renter and want something better, we say: keep looking until you've found the one. And now that so many people are able to work from home, switching up areas or even cities is a real option.
