Here at Real Homes we have been unashamedly getting excited about Christmas since July, but finally the rest of the world is catching up, huzzah! And along with all the Christmas sarnies hitting the shops and every high street in Britain having some Z-list celebrity turn on their Christmas lights, a sign to us that the festive season is well on it’s way is the release of the Pinterest Christmas Holiday Report

Each year, Pinterest reveals the most highly searched for and exciting festive trends, and here’s what’s in store for Christmas 2018…

1. Creative table napkins

No matter what’s on the menu, a well laid Christmas table is a thing of beauty. And it seems that this year, the item in the spotlight is the humble napkin with searches for ‘creative table napkins’ up a whopping 450 per cent. We have a few nifty tips over on our best Christmas table setting ideas if you are in need of some inspiration…

2. Festive letterboards

We love a letter board, and we love a letter board with a festive message even more.

3. Christmas card displays

Clearly people are getting tired of having to battle a sea of card just to boil the kettle and finding more creative ways to display Christmas cards. Pinch this idea and use some string teeny pegs to create a festive feature wall.

4. Eco-friendly wrapping paper

We are all about reusable bags, bottles and coffee cups so why shouldn’t we be able to reuse gift wrap? Go and Google 'the art of furoshiki' for some zero-waste wrapping strategies (and then go and check out our eco-friendly gift guide so you actually have something to wrap)…

5. DIY baubles

Still going down the whole sustainable Christmas route, up-cycled baubles also saw a surge in Pinterest searches. There are some seriously cool ideas out there for how to turn your, seen better days baubles into glorious, glittering ornaments. Just check out this idea using gold leaf...

6. Christmas tree collars

We totally get this. There is nothing worse than spending hours curating (because yes it is an art) the perfect Christmas tree, only for the whole vibe to be ruined by an ugly metal stand.

7. Asymmetrical wreaths

Deconstructed, minimal and gorgeously rustic we think that half wreaths might be the only way we are doing wreaths this year. Head over to our best Christmas wreaths for 2018 to see more beautiful ways to adorn your door...
