This month, we are at home with interior designer and judge on The Great Interior Design Challenge, Sophie Robinson, finding out some of her favourite moments in her home. Here's what she has to say.

Today is national ‘Love your pet day’. I’m not usually one to take note of all these type of dates but somehow this one really resonated with me. Lucy my mini bull terrier has been my pet for just over a year and I’m pretty flabbergasted at just how much I love her! I had no idea how ridiculously head over heels I’ve become over this gorgeous mutt. After trying so hard to conceive with no joy over the past four years I’ll admit she’s a bit of a baby replacement! But she’s a great companion, gives gorgeous cuddles on the sofa and sleeps on a chair next to my desk while I’m working keeping me company. I really can’t imagine life without her and she’s certainly filled a hole in my life. Animals are amazing beings and do so much for the happiness of the humans who own them. So I just thought I’d take a moment to honour our little furry friends. Check out my feed and you can tell I’m serious about bedrooms. Sure I’m a busy bee but I take my sleep very very seriously! It’s my number one favourite thing to do and lucky for me I’m good at it! Drive me anywhere and I’m asleep in seconds. I’m full agog before the plane takes off. I can’t read more than one page of my book before my head hits the pillow and transports me to the land of nod. So designing bedrooms is up there as one of my favourites. This is my latest design for my Mum in her new annex, and the full reveal is over on the blog today ( link in profile). It stars this delicious new Holly bed from @buttonandsprung and my new range of Sophie stripe bedlinen from @secretlinenstore with a pop of pink and yellow for a perky summer vibe. My advice is to invest in a great bed and choose a classic style. Then switch about the accessories and linens to keep the look fresh. I’m obsessed with crisp blue and white stripes in summer, my wardrobe is full of them so that’s why I designed this striped bed linen so I could bring the summer vibes into my home too. To sum up my home in six words...

Colourful, eclectic, homey, merry, artistic, imperfect.

If I could only choose one colour...

Pink, because it has such range in every shade.

Having things in your home that you really love, that make your heart sing, is what it really is all about. We had the @sundaytimeshome visit the house last week to write a feature on mums annex which is so exciting! Building a new home from scratch has been an amazing journey for Mum who has been a fixer upper all her life so it was an incredible joy to design a home from scratch with only a few constricts due to budget! But when it came to choosing the new things in her home she could really tap into her new sense of style. These simply exquisite lamps by British designer @annalysejacobs were pivotal to her creating a new look and a home that represents a fresh start. Anna is a true artist and puts so much love into her creations. We used the colour palette in the lamp shade as a starting point to roll out the scheme in her bedroom. A soft pink on the walls creates an almost neutral backdrop to the stunning deep velvet bed. Fill it with things you love.

Do you get colour crushes? I totally do where I just get really obsessed and drawn to a colour. For a while I’ve been hearting this rich cobalt blue, which you can tell from my insta feed! Closely followed by everything hot coral. It has the strength of hot pink but a little more sass I feel. I used the palette to design my exclusive range of bedlinen for @secretlinenstore ( for more on that tap @sophierobinsoninteriors and then the web link in my bio) It was a wonderful way to indulge my current colour crush and I love how the hot coral sings against the cool electric blue. Can you spot the mini pom poms on the pillow cases too, all round squeals! Anyway I’m twittering on about this as I was recently asked in an interview where I get my colour inspo. And it sort of starts with a particular colour crush and then I start seeing it everywhere. It’s the nail colour I pick out at the salon, a jazzy new top, vases, accessories, paint colours. ANYWAY, stop the press but I think I might be developing a new beau. Lilac. I know! I’ve just had my nails painted lilac (see stories) as they didn’t have my hot coral. And you know putting my outfits together for this weeks filming, and I kept pulling out lilac tops. Put it with other brights and it feels edgy and fresh. And it’s very on trend right now too, so for all my protestations maybe I’m swayed by trends after all.
