Echo Deals: Smart Speakers

Amazon Echo (4th Gen)

The most up-to-date iteration of Amazon's original smart speaker, the Echo (4th Gen) is a great choice for those who want slightly better sound quality, everything Alexa has to offer, and the ability to build out a wider smart home system for an affordable price. The Echo is larger than its little sister, the Dot (below), and is available in Glacier White, Charcoal, Red, and Twilight Blue.

At first glance, the Echo Dot (4th Gen) looks identical to the Echo, but this wonderful little device is smaller and cheaper than its big brother, and so is ideal if you want multiple Alexa speakers to place around the home. Audio quality is a bit more muted due to its size, but you can still use the Dot for things like hands-free calling, routines, and pretty much anything else. You can choose between Glacier White, Twilight Blue, and Charcoal.

Another variation on the 4th Gen Echo range, you can also get the Echo Dot with a handy clock face. That makes it perfect for those who prefer to use their smart speaker in the bedroom as a clever alarm clock, and you can simply tap the top of the device to silence the morning alarm. Otherwise, it's pretty much exactly the same as the Echo Dot (4th Gen) and is available in Glacier White or Twilight Blue.

Amazon Echo Studio

The Echo Studio is the best Alexa speaker for audiophiles, prioritizing sound quality with no less than five directional speakers for all-encompassing sound. It also adapts this output to the particular acoustics of a space, tailoring it for the very best experience. It's a little pricier than other Alexa speakers but comes recommended for those who want to use their Echo speaker to listen to music and podcasts as well as for the in-built smart assistant.

Amazon Echo Dot (4th Gen) Kids

More than just a jazzy casing, the Echo Dot (4th Gen) Kids brings Alexa smarts to the whole family in a safe and fun way. The speaker comes with a year of Amazon Kids+ for free, packing the Dot with lots of child-friendly skills and features. For example, the alarm can gently wake the little ones up with their favorite fictional character's voice, and they can ask for help with their homework. You also get lots of Audible books, games, and more with the Kids+ service.

It's certainly not the new, trendy guy on the block anymore, but there is still a lot of reasons to invest in the Echo Dot (3rd Gen). Because it's older, of course, it's also cheaper than its counterparts yet still comes with the same Alexa capabilities. The puck-like design also remains attractive with a fabric casing and light on the rim. It may be elderly by smart tech standards, but there's a reason Amazon hasn't given up on it.

Echo Deals: Smart Displays

Amazon Echo Show 10

Undoubtedly Amazon's most advanced smart display to date, the Echo Show 10 is the latest and greatest in the lineup (at least until the Echo Show 15 is released). This is technically the 3rd Gen model of the brand's original Echo Show (you can see the 2nd Gen model below), but it's a huge step up. The 10-inch HD screen moves automatically with you when you're chatting with family or dashing around the kitchen following a recipe, and it also doubles as a security camera for monitoring your home while away.

Amazon Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen)

The Echo Show 8 may not be able to swivel like the Echo Show 10, but it's still able to use its 13MP camera to auto-frame you while chatting with friends and family - for a more affordable price. Everything else is the same, but the new HD screen does mean that you can use the display as a smart photo frame with Amazon Photos. Boosted speakers also came with the update.

Amazon Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen)

The smallest entry in the Echo Show range, the Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) packages the same smarts in a much more minute package. We would probably recommend the Show 5 for bedrooms, as it works perfectly as a really, really advanced alarm clock that can set you up for the day with routines, weather updates, and news. There is also a 2MP camera for video calls, though this one doesn't have auto-centering.

You can still get your hands on the older version of the mid-size Echo Show 8, which is enjoying big discounts on a regular basis due to the release of the 2nd Gen model. The smart display is still an excellent purchase in our opinion, with its larger screen you can do more from further away - like watching YouTube videos, video chatting and viewing live from any smart security cameras or doorbells you may have.

Amazon Echo Show 5

The 1st Gen model of Amazon's 5-inch smart display, the Echo Show 5 is ideal if you want a screen with your Alexa but aren't too worried about picture quality or having the largest display possible. The smaller screen makes it ideal for visual supplements like lyrics while you're listening to music, seeing who's outside when someone rings your video doorbell or keeping an eye on another room like the nursery. Amazon Echo Show (2nd Gen)

The oldest Amazon smart display still available to purchase (if you're lucky), the Echo Show (2nd Gen) is the predecessor to the Echo Show 10 listed above and sports the same 10-inch HD screen and fabric casing. You can use it to control your smart home via Alexa, as a screen for use with security cameras or doorbells, and for video chats over Alexa or Skype. We would wait for a good deal on this before buying, and you can read our Amazon Echo Show (2nd Gen) review if you're not sure.

Many people swear by the Amazon Echo Dot as a bedtime companion, but unfortunately the little smart speaker seems to be on its way out. There may still be time to get your hands on it though! There is limited available in some territories, so make sure you check below for the best deals where you are.
