We’re adoring the new trend for bold bathroom tile ideas – and love that tile companies are producing an array of pretty shades for us to choose from. Being the least visited room in the house by anyone other than family, the bathroom is a great place to experiment with colour... Being smallest room in the house (for most of us), means that you can pick out that particular tile you’ve fallen in love with and use it with great impact over a tight space, without spending a fortune.

So, be brave, let out your inner interior designer and go for it! And for more bathroom ideas, don't miss our dedicated design gallery.

1. Pick sorbet bathroom tile ideas to brighten up a dark space

Oooh isn’t this the most gorgeous bathroom you’ve ever seen? Those tiles are the most perfect shade of pink – Tiles Direct have a good copy and, teamed with the copper tap and towel rail, they are spot on. Jess @thehousethatcolourbuilt wanted to create a ‘boutique hotel vibe’ in here and we love her Wes Andersonesque styling.

Another great touch is how Jess has used rectangular shapes throughout – the tiles, mirror, towel rail, sink and cabinet – even the door knobs! It really helps to consider these details when designing any space and links the pieces together visually and the fabulous lemon print shower curtain creates a great colour pop to finish off the room.

2. Contrast yellow bathroom tile ideas with modern black fittings

Maybe not an obvious colour scheme, but it definitely works and the metro tile keeps on giving, doesn’t it? These ceramic tiles from Tile Mountain are designed with the Art Deco period in mind, with their elegant bevelled edges making them a classic choice, but with a twist in this colour. The jet black floor, sanitaryware and shower act as the perfect foil against the vibrant yellow/orange. This look will work really well in a modern home that has clean lines and a minimalist feel – go for it!

3. Create a calming look with pastel green bathroom tiles

There are several things to love about this bathroom. Firstly, the light! And secondly, we love how the Brasilia floor tiles from Popham Design have continued up the wall, which draws your eye away from the fact that the bathroom is actually super narrow. The beautiful white Victoria + Albert Eldon bath breaks up the pattern, yet the shape of it and the white pattern on the tiles link cleverly. The gold taps, shower and towel rail add a hint of warmth to the white painted side walls finishing off the space to a T.

4. Contrast blush wall tiles with punchy blue floor tiles

This swoon-worthy bathroom by Ikea shows you how to mix a pretty blush with a bolder and brighter blue. It’s an interesting combo that has a retro feel to it and the contemporary styling of the sink unit, chrome shelves and trolley give it a fresh twist. For similar blush tiles try these from Mandarin Stone and for the blue ones, have a look at Crown Tiles quartz stone dark blue floor tiles. Want a top tip? The vertically placed metro tiles are a great idea to create the illusion of height if your bathroom has a low ceiling.

5. Embrace dark bathroom tiles for added drama

Does your bathroom have good daylight? Then you can afford to choose darker bathroom tiles – and even paint the walls to match. We love the shape of these tiles – they're a feature in themselves. Going for a scheme this dramatic? Pick a pale flooring with a warm tone to it (wood or wood lookalike tiles are both great choices). These Syren Midnight Blue tiles are from Topps Tiles.
