Done right, a monochrome bedroom can be a thing of beauty. However while the look can be amazing in the pages of a magazine, or in a showroom, it can be hard to recreate at home with the warmth and cosiness you would expect in a bedroom.

That is why at Real Homes we don't only like seeking out the latest trends from popular designers, but also love seeing how these ideas can be applied in the average family home. So, we are looking inside some of Britain's most Instagram-famous houses in search of design ideas and style inspiration from real people.

Here, Sian Astley steps inside the home of the fabulous Lisa Dawson who has shot to Insta fame by sharing images of her home. Lisa lives in a Georgian home near York with her husband Joe, three children, a dog and a cat – so her interiors, while super stylish, need to be up to the job of busy family life too. Her signature look combines colour, vintage and retro styling and she is a pro at sourcing bargain pieces from charity shops and second hand stores.

In this video she tells Sian about her beautiful monochrome bedroom which showcases modern touches, original features and some fun upcycled furniture, too. Greys and whites make for a peaceful and sophisticated space, but check out the wonderfully feminine dressing room to the side.

Feeling inspired? Give your home a monochrome makeover by taking a look at our white bedroom ideas. Or, if you like the use of slate in place of classic black, see these grey bedroom ideas for something a little different.

Take a tour of the rest of Lisa's stunning Georgian home and don't forget to keep an eye out for more videos of Insta-perfect homes in the So Real Homes series on our YouTube channel.
