These mocktail recipes are just what you need if you're having a teetotal summer. Whatever your reasons for not drinking, it can often feel like every social event is centred around alcohol when the sun is shining. We love water, and there are loads of great 'grown up' soft drinks these days that make an alcohol-free night out much easier, but we also love the ritual of mixing yourself a cocktail so we have found some fabulous mocktail recipes that everyone can enjoy.
Many non-alcoholic cocktails are just that – your favourite cocktail minus the alcohol. These can be delicious, but some end up being too sweet or lacking the balance that the alcoholic version has thanks to the flavour of the spirits used. So we have found a range of mocktails that sub in a great no or low alcohol (NoLo) version of the spirit, or are just a tasty mix in their own right. 1. Caleño piña colada
Who doesn't like piña colada (and getting caught in the rain)? And rightly so – with pineapple and coconut, this really is a holiday in a glass. While most virgin piña coladas follow the classic recipe and just leave out the rum, we love this version which subs in Caleño. This is a non-alcoholic spirit made with juniper berry and exotic, zingy Inca berry and it adds more tropical notes to this already very sunny drink.
- 50ml Caleño
- 120ml pineapple juice
- 60ml coconut cream
- Pineapple leaves to garnish
1. Put all the ingredients (minus the garnish) in a blender.
2. Add a handful of ice.
3. Pulse until smooth.
4. Serve in a tall glass with a pineapple leaf garnish. Cocktail umbrella encouraged.

The Cosmopolitan is famously Sex and the City Carrie Bradshaw's favourite cocktail, but even Carrie needs a weekend off the booze and we think she would enjoy this virgin take on the classic. It uses Everleaf non-alcoholic aperitif that has notes of vanilla and saffron, which work wonderfully with the tart cranberry and lime. Serve in a cocktail glass and garnish with orange peel or even edible flowers.
- 40ml Everleaf bittersweet aperitif
- 40ml cranberry
- 15ml lime juice
- 5ml sugar syrup
- Orange peel garnish
1. Put all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
2. Add a big handful of ice and shake until well mixed.
3. Strain into a cocktail/martini glass.
4. Garnish with a twist of orange peel.
3. Grove 42 margarita
People who usually go for a strong, dry cocktail might want to give this alcohol free margarita a go. It is still the party drink we know and love, but with no-alcoholic Seedlip Grove 42 in it, you won't suffer the consequences of a night of knocking back a load of tequila. The replacement spirit is based on orange, ginger and lemongrass – three flavours that work with the citrus lime base of a margarita so well. It also contains agave syrup which is the sweet syrup from the plant tequila is distilled from so the taste profile is not far off at all.
- 50ml Seedlip Grove 42
- 1tbsp agave syrup or honey
- 20ml fresh lime juice
- Handful ice cubes
- Lime peel
1. Prep your tumbler by running a wedge of lime around the rim. Then roll the rim in salt.
2. Add the Grove 42, agave syrup and lime juice to a cocktail shaker with ice.
3. Shake well then strain over more ice into the tumbler.
4. Garnish with a wheel of lime.
4. Purple Queen
This non-alcoholic take on a Kir Royale is the taste of summer, packed with seasonal berries and botanicals. For those who don't know a Kir Royale is a combo of blackcurrant liqueur and Champagne (or sparkling white wine), so in this mocktail version, the sparkling wine has been swapped for a low ABV version from Wild Life Botanicals, with Belvoir Blackcurrant and Blueberry Cordial, finished with Tame and Wild Blueberry and Dandelion sparkling drink. This perfect mix has been put together by La Maison Wellness who have loads of brill mocktail recipes. Feel free to swap in your favourite blackcurrant cordial and sparkling water of choice, but we love the light flavours used here – so refreshing.
- 1tsp blackcurrant & blueberry cordial
- Non-alcoholic sparkling wine
- Summer berry flavoured water (see the range from Tame & Wild)
1. Pour the cordial into a Champagne flute.
2. Top to brim with half sparkling wine and half sparkling water.
3. Garnish with a few berries.
5. Cucumber lemonade tea mocktail
This unforgettable ice tea will never wipe your memory like Long Island ice teas are prone to doing... This serve is so refreshing and with cucumber in it is a lovely summery drink for a hot hot day. This recipe uses Natalie's Lemonade Tea but feel free to use homemade instead. The key is plenty of cucumber for that fresh taste and scent. This recipe will make a big jug to share between two or three people.
- 500ml Natalie's Lemonade Tea
- 75g cucumber, diced
- Club soda
- Cucumber slices or ribbons and lemon slices for garnish
1. Combine the lemonade tea and cucumber in a small pitcher.
2. Chill in the fridge for a few hours to let the flavours marry.
3. Strain out the diced cucumber and pour into 2–3 large ice, filled glasses.
4. Top with club soda to taste.
5. Garnish with cucumber and lemon slices.
6. Ceder's pink & tonic
Of course one of the simplest cocktails is the gin and tonic, but there are so many great non-alcoholic gins and spirits out there that work beautifully with tonic, too. We love the floral taste of this Ceder's Pink Rose non-alcoholic spirit. It contains juniper – like it's boozy cousin gin – but also hibiscus and rose for the most fragrant combo. We like it best served simply with a bit of tonic and a few garnishes.
- 50ml Ceder's Pink Rose
- 150ml Indian tonic water
1. Build the 'spirit' and tonic water in a glass over cubed ice.
2. Garnish with raspberries and a sprig of mint.
