Chocolate fondue isn't just for kids. In fact, our chocolate fondue recipe is the perfect way to make dessert fun – and it's ready in a matter of minutes

This chocolate fondue recipe makes naughty-but-nice dessert in a matter of minutes, and is a great way to add a sharing element to dessert time. It's also an easy option for catering to people who have different flavour preferences – because there's an almost infinite variety of things that can be dipped in warm chocolate (ok, maybe not carrots).

To have the absolute best chocolate fondue experience, we recommend investing in a fondue pot: not only do these ingenious devices prevent chocolate from spilling everywhere, but they will also keep the fondue delectably warm. Don't have/want one? Not a problem – you can just serve the fondue in the saucepan you made it in.

How to make chocolate fondue

Ingredients:

To serve four people this delectable dessert, you'll need:

  • Dark chocolate, finely chopped, 400 grams
  • Double cream, 200 ml
  • A pinch of salt
  • Fruit, marshmallows, biscuits and more to serve

Method:

1. In a saucepan, warm up the cream on medium heat until it begins to gently simmer at the edges. Be careful not to boil the cream – just get it to a nice, warm temperature. As soon as it begins to simmer/bubble, take off the heat. Add a pinch of salt.

2. Add the chopped up chocolate and mix well with the cream until dissolved. If the consistency is not thick enough, add a bit more chocolate.

3. Transfer into a fondue pot if using.

4. Serve your chocolate fondue with a mixture of chopped fruit – we love strawberries, banana, blueberries, grapes and raspberries – marshmallows, sweet biscuits, or whatever else you have hanging around in your kitchen cupboards.
