14. Ettitide
Despite its rapid regeneration, bamboo fabrics can get a bad rap for excessive chemical use during production. Not Ettitude, though. The eco-friendly bedding company created its own special process, dubbed Clean Bamboo, that uses a non-toxic solvent and recycles 98% of the solution up to 200 times to turn raw bamboo into the silkiest material. Seriously, the brand's sateen sheets, made completely from bamboo viscose are among the most buttery-soft we've slept on, while the bamboo mattress protector is both breathable and waterproof!
The company operates according to the 17 sustainable development goals part of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Just last year, Ettitude sheet sets saved over 275 million gallons of water and prevented 875 thousand kilograms when compared to cotton, and nearly 80,000 plastic bottles were recycled to make the down alternative comforter. They also achieved carbon neutrality in 2021 and are working to become plastic-free.

18. Cozy Earth
Editor-approved by former Real Homes' EIC Melissa Epifano, this ultra-luxe bed brand, Cozy Earth will look after both you and the planet. Kind on the skin and the planet, it's known for having silky smooth bamboo sheets that get softer with every wash. Yes, you heard it right — no piling here. But forget that for a moment because this sustainable bedding brand is making movements when it comes to bamboo. Bringing this material into the mainstream, cozy Earth makes me question why I'd ever switch back to cotton. Well, maybe the price. Spend $50 to qualify for free shipping.

It's actually two times cleaner than the government standard.
All products (including pillows, comforter inserts, mattresses, and accessories) are produced in fair trade working conditions, working with a network of 12,000 cotton farmers. 20. Coyuchi
Launched in 1991, Coyuchiprides itself as the first bedding company to use 100% organic cotton textiles, taking a step forward with products made to the highest environmental and ethical standards. We're most enthusiastic about Coyuchi's classic linen options, with a slightly wrinkled feel and low-impact dyes. The organic flax is grown in France (it can only be harvested on the same land once every seven years) before being woven in Portugal.
The product assortment spans much further, however, with various organic sheeting in percale, linen, sateen, jersey, and flannel, plus bedding basics like wool mattress toppers, crib sheets, throws, and even spa-like bath towels, and that's just scratching the surface. Most of their offerings are available in full sizes through California King. Each product comes with a one-year trial period.
Their innovative Second Home circular initiative features a Take-Back program where used Coyuchi linens can be sent back to the company in exchange for a discount. The fabric will be restored or conditioned and sold at a fraction of the original price. Coyuchi says that 84% of textiles can be salvaged and they've stopped over 44,000 pounds of textiles from ending up in landfills. Get free shipping when you spend $300+.

How we chose these bedding brands
We have tested bedding from most of the brands above, in our own homes over several weeks, sleeps and washes. That has meant a lot of snuggling up every night to vouch for the material quality, coolness and coziness of each set. It's a hard job, but somebody has to do it.
In instances where our team couldn't get their hand on the bedding, they looked at third party reviews on the retailer sites and used their bedding expertise to make sense of the specs.
There's nothing Annie loves more than a new bedding set, and she has tested a bunch for us, for our bedding shopping guides. She often switches her home decor colors for the season and uses bedding, cushions, and throws to do so. Annie has been an editor at Real Homes since 2018 but has also written for Ideal Homes, Homes & Gardens, and Livingetc.
Louise was previously our ecommerce and sleep editor, but now she works over at our sister brand Homes & Gardens. Louise previously tested all of our sleep products, from mattress toppers to bedding sets, and this list features some of the brands that often feature in the top spots of our shopping guides.
Jaclyn was also our ecommerce editor, focusing on sleep content. Jaclyn reviewed a whole host of mattresses for us, plus pillows and bed sheets, and much more. Jaclyn featured some of her favorite brands in this list. She has also written for Livingetc, Homes & Gardens, Apartment Therapy, The Kitchn, The Spruce, The Spruce Eats, and MyDomaine.
FAQs
Is now a good time to buy bedding?
At Real Homes we always recommend using a price tracker like camelcamelcamel (which tells you the lowest ever product price and when and where that price was offered) to determine whether a deal is worth splurging on.
How do I find the right bedding?
Aside from deciding which product you're after, which would typically come from what needs replacing, there are things to look for when choosing the best bedding for you. These include finding the size you need, the material that works with your needs, and which color will go with your at-home aesthetic. As a main marker for finding the right bedding though, we'd recommend working out your budget. How much are you willing/can afford to spend? This will dictate where you shop since brands often cater to different price points.
