Sure, the world may have gone back to the “new normal” (ew, I hate myself for using that phrase), but not everyone has gone back to the office. Me? I’m still working from home, and my poor back is PAYING THE PRICE. Yep, I’ve been typing away like a little typing fairy on my bed for way too long, and without a proper office desk, I’m going to be looking like the Hunchback of Notre Dam in T-minus two years if I’m not careful. I mean, I totally need a comfortable office chair, too, but let's take this one step at a time.
But let’s be honest, who the heck has the money to pay for an apartment with separate office space? I certainly don’t, which is why I always thought that I couldn’t have a desk. But it turns out that small desks do exist, and they’re designed specifically for renters and small space dwellers who want to make the most out of their tiny square footage. They fit neatly into the little gaps you have in your bedroom, and being able to work from a desk will let your co-workers see on your weekly Zoom meeting that you’re not a little goblin who simply lies in bed all day (because you only do it for half the day, right?).
Yuh-huh, there are so many advantages to buying a small desk for your bedroom — and the best part? I’ve chosen small desks that offer even more space-saving qualities. From desks that fit in the corner of your room to desks that come with extra storage that is ALWAYS needed, these bad boys cover all bases. Just remember to add your own personal touch with these super cute (and seriously handy) desk organizers when you’ve got it set up!

Small corner desks for bedrooms
If you’ve read any of my articles before (you should, I’m great), you’ll know that I love a corner! That’s because corners are normally too awkwardly shaped for anything other than dead space, which means that you’re wasting some serious square footage that can be extremely useful when you live in a small apartment. By filling this corner space with a desk, you can add a super practical addition to your life into your bedroom without actually taking up any extra floor space. So, you’re basically adding something for nothing!

You already know about my mild obsession with corners, but did you know that one of the best ways to create the perfect desk space is to incorporate extra storage? Well, this small corner desk ticks both of those boxes — AND it’s super cute! Not only will it fit neatly into any corner of your bedroom, but it also comes with a large opening drawer so that you can place your keyboard and mouse there (or store your laptop there when you’re done for the day). As if that wasn’t enough, there are also three cupboards, a drawer, and two display shelves for you to give all of your *things* a home.

Okay, okay, I know this isn’t exactly cheap. And I know that shelling out almost $500 for a desk seems a bit crazy, but you have to make sacrifices for Urban Outfitters, right? Their latest UO furniture line is full of boho pieces that I just couldn’t ignore, and I couldn’t help but fall in love with this corner desk. Just look at it! It’s made from beautiful mango wood (which means it’s legit and super sturdy) and it even has a drawer for you to store your work necessities. It’s more of an investment piece than anything, but its timeless design means that you can keep it for years without wanting to switch it out for something else.
Made from: Pine, MDF
Size (in.): H30 x W42 x D28
Looking for a more traditional style of bedroom desk? Then look no further. Made from a mixture of pine and MDF, this adorable bedroom desk will accentuate any corner of your room, and offer you everything you need from a desk. There’s enough space on the top of the dest for your computer or laptop (and a houseplant or two), there’s a soft-close drawer for your stationery (yep, soft close!!!!!), and there’s even a shelf underneath for you to store your books (or the shoes you literally have no other space for). But the best thing about this desk is that it comes in six different colors!
Small bedroom desks with drawers
If you live in a small apartment, I’m gonna go ahead and assume that you don’t have a lot of storage space. That’s why opting for a desk with storage in your bedroom could be the perfect answer to all of your problems. That way, you can split your workspace into two different sections. You can have the space you use to actually get sh*t done, and then you can use the drawers to store your pens and pencils, your chargers, or just anything else that you don’t have space for in your bedroom. It just makes sense.

This small bedroom desk might be compact, but it certainly packs a punch. With one large cabinet and a small drawer on top of it, it’s the perfect place to store all of the things you don’t want on show. But that’s not the only reason I’m utterly obsessed with this li’l thing. If you’re someone who always likes to match your furniture to the decor of your room, you’ll be happy to know that this white and natural-wood effect desk will literally go with anything. It’s nice and neutral… but that doesn’t mean you can’t personalize it with your own little bits and bobs.

Size (in.): H31.25 x W48 x D23.5
My mom has always told me that if you “buy cheap, you buy twice.” And I still hear her voice in my head every time I get sucked into the Dollar Tree by their cheap prices. Of course, I’ll forever be a loyal customer of their dollar candy bars and chips (I may or may not have a whole drawer of them in my apartment), but sometimes it pays to pay a little bit more. And this Article desk is the perfect example of that. After all, it’s made from solid white oak! It’s one of the sturdiest desks you’ll find on the market, and it even comes complete with two soft-close drawers AND a concealed cable management compartment to organize those pesky cables.
Old school vibes
Made from: Pine, MDF
Size (in.): H40.5 x W36.2 x D19.1
If you’ve ever wanted to pretend as though you’re the main character in Bridgerton, then I feel like this desk was made for you. Built to look like an old-school writing desk, it’s one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen — and it’s the perfect size for a small desk for a bedroom! With split levels for you to use, it’s the great li’l storage desk for you to organize your work items, and there are even five drawers that you can fill up to your heart’s content (it would also make a great vanity desk, am I right?!) And while I absolutely LOVE the pea color, this desk also comes in brown or blue.
Small white desks for bedrooms
Let’s be honest, white just goes with everything. And no matter if you have a white bedroom or you’ve painted your bedroom in the colors of the rainbow (that sounds super cool, FYI), a white desk will always go with the decor of your room. So, you don’t need to second-guess your decision to buy a small white desk for your bedroom. It’s a given that it will look awesome, and white has the added bonus of making a room look bigger! And sometimes size does matter when you’re trying to add another piece of furniture to your small bedroom.
Standing in style
Made from: Wood
Size (in.): H25” x W31” x D16”
If you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful small bedroom desk, then I present to you this li’l curveball. Have you ever thought about using a standing desk? Some people have found a huge number of benefits from standing up and working. But this desk isn’t just for those who have joined the standing desk revolution! The main selling point of this Amazon find is that this desk is completely adjustable. That means that you can choose whatever height suits you, whether that’s high or low. Plus, it’s an absolute BARGAIN!
Simple yet stylish
Made from: Wood Composite
Size (in.): H29 x W42 x D15.7
This simple and white storage desk has no frills, and I respect that. This desk is just out here vibing and doing exactly what it wants to do, and it actually has everything that you could need from a compact bedroom desk. It would fit perfectly along your bedroom wall, and its thin depth means that it won’t take up too much space or force you to take a desk corner to the hip every time you want to leave your bedroom. Its white color means that it’ll go with anything and everything, and a total bonus is the fact that it also comes with shelves for extra storage boxes. And I LOVE a storage box.

Ugh, I can’t get enough of a hairpin leg. I love how effortlessly classy they are, and I love how they can be used in so many different rooms of the house (a pallet coffee table, anyone?) So, you probably don’t need me to tell you that I’m obsessed with this white writing desk. It’s not the biggest desk in the world, but that’s exactly what makes it perfect for small bedrooms. It’s cute and compact but still has the extra storage space with those two cubby holes — and the legs make it a real focal point. That’s perfect for those who don’t want their desk to fade into the background, and how can you argue with this price?
How can I put a desk in my small bedroom?
Just because you have a small bedroom doesn’t mean that you can’t add any more furniture into the mix. If you’re smart about your placement and your sizing, you can add this practical addition without scrimping on too much valuable space. Don’t believe me? Well, listen to Alex Tolofson from furniture brand Noa & Nani instead. He told me, “When it comes to placing a desk in a small bedroom, it’s important to consider both functionality and space efficiency. One of the best places to put a desk is in a corner. This not only maximizes the use of space but also creates a cozy and comfortable workspace.”
But that’s not the only place that Alex suggests. He also stated that, “Another option is to place the desk alongside a wall that is opposite the entrance. This placement allows for the desk to be out of the way and creates an unobtrusive workspace that doesn't disrupt the flow of the room. This placement also allows for natural light to flow into the workspace, which can help to reduce eye strain and make working more pleasant.” Whatever placement you choose, though, Alex wants you to remember to “make sure that there is enough space around the desk to move comfortably and that the desk doesn’t block any windows, doors or pathways.” So, it really is as simple as that!
