As far as we're concerned, buying Christmas wrapping paper and wrapping presents is one of the greatest pleasures of the weeks leading up to the winter holidays. But until very recently, we had no idea that recyclable Christmas wrapping paper is a thing, or that ordinary wrapping paper isn't recyclable.
It turns out that most wrapping paper cannot be recycled either due to the dyes used to colour it or the plastic laminate coating that gives many designs a shiny finish. Oh, and anything with glitter on it can't be recycled either.
Fortunately, this doesn't mean that you have to settle for plain brown paper (although we actually don't mind a minimalist wrapping style). There are many recyclable and recycled wrapping paper designs to choose from – we've picked the absolute favourites we're buying to wrap our presents this Christmas.
