Healthy breakfast ideas
You may associate pancakes with a 'treat' breakfast or brunch, but made the right way they can actually be surprisingly healthy. All you'll need are a few ingredients to get started: bananas, plain flour, baking powder, oat milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon. And from there you can opt for some healthy toppings – we love fresh fruit, greek yoghurt, a little maple syrup, or a dollop of peanut butter (opt for a brand that's just peanuts, not one loaded with salt and sugar) – and you're away.
These banana pancakes have the wonderful texture of an American-style pancake but are gluten-free and packed with nutrients. We're obsessed.
A favourite amongst millennials, avocado toast offers a healthy balance of carbohydrates for slow burning energy and good fats which are especially important for women to ensure they're getting enough of. Plus, we can all agree that it's pretty delicious.

In a nutshell, overnight oats are rolled oats that have been soaked in your milk of choice, – overnight and in the fridge – which in essence cooks them, deliciously so. For some of us, porridge is the go-to breakfast for cold mornings. For others, it's a reminder of childhood breakfasts that were, shall we say, not our top choice. Here's how to make the best porridge ever.
This filling, nourishing breakfast is so easy to make in a slow cooker – and best of all you can press 'go' before you go to bed and wake up to find it's ready to eat before you dash out of the door.
The best thing about vegan porridge is that the milk substitutes available nowadays are so versatile, ranging from indulgently creamy options to simple, fresh alternatives. For this reason, we're of the opinion that you can't really beat a vegan porridge...
Whether you're looking to use up leftover fruit and veg before it goes off, want a healthier alternative to the biscuits you keep reaching for (not that there's anything wrong with that), or simply want to increase your vitamin and mineral intake for improved health, there's never been an easier way to enjoy fruit and veg in large quantities.
Smoothie bowls are a slightly more filling alternative to your traditional smoothie, but are still light enough to enjoy as the weather warms up. Plus, they're quick to prepare and are a great way to start your day with plenty of fruit and veg. Which is probably why we saw them all over Instagram last summer.
