Healthy breakfast ideas
1. Try this healthy pancake recipe
You may associate pancakes with a 'treat' breakfast or brunch, but made the right way – by which we mean following this vegan pancake recipe – they can actually be surprisingly healthy. And no, that's not following the 'it's vegan so it's healthy' logic, these pancakes are just legit pretty good for you and will ensure you start your day right.
All you'll need are a few ingredients to get started: bananas, plain flour, baking powder, oat milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon. And from there you can opt for some healthy toppings – we love fresh fruit, greek yoghurt, a little maple syrup, or a dollop of peanut butter (opt for a brand that's just peanuts, not one loaded with salt and sugar) – and you're away.
2. You can't beat avocado toast
A favourite amongst millennials, avocado toast offers a healthy balance of carbohydrates for slow burning energy and good fats which are especially important for women to ensure they're getting enough of. Plus, we can all agree that it's pretty delicious.
Prepare at home, at work, or even enjoy the go – yes we have been known to pre-toast our bread and mash our avocado in a tupperware box while out and about.
3. Enjoy overnight oats for a super speedy breakfast
In a nutshell, overnight oats are rolled oats that have been soaked in your milk of choice, – overnight and in the fridge – which in essence cooks them, deliciously so. In our opinion, they're possibly the most underrated breakfast of all time. Why? They're so simple to prepare, they cost nada and they will keep you fuller for longer than any breakfast bar or slice of toast would do.
As luck would have it, we've got a few overnight oat recipes in our guide, each of which are designed to jazz up your mornings – you should try them.
