As in all things cleaning, we like to check out the advice of Instagram star Mrs Hinch – aka Sophie Hinchcliffe. Clean a dishwasher like Mrs Hinch

Mrs Hinch’s kitchen is never less than pristine and that – of course – includes the dishwasher.

Here’s what the inside of Mrs Hinch’s dishwasher looked like before she cleaned it.

1. Get into every nook and cranny of the interior

You probably won’t be surprised to hear that Mrs Hinch uses her trusted cleaning products to get her dishwasher thoroughly clean and smelling great. When it comes to working into every corner of the interior and all round the door edges to remove the bits that have got lodged there, it’s the Dishmatic she uses. As fans of this clever little device know, you fill it with washing-up liquid and it dispenses the cleaner as you go.

2. Deal with the detergent dispenser

It’s easy to forget about the detergent dispenser, but this needs attention, too. How does Mrs Hinch get it clean? A spritz with another of her favourites – Stardrops White Vinegar Spray – is the answer. How easy is that!

3. The secret of thorough drying

Mrs Hinch’s hack for finishing off the interior of the dishwasher once it’s good and clean? Here she calls on her SPh2ONGE cloth. Like the SPh2ONGE, er, sponge, it’s a super absorbent cloth that gives a streak-free finish. It’s a great way to get your dishwasher looking brand new again.

See all SPh2ONGE products on Amazon.

4. Banish any smells

A clean dishwasher should be free of any niffs, but – belt and braces – Mrs Hinch’s hack for a fresh-smelling machine is a sprinkle of bicarbonate of soda in the interior once you’re at the end of the cleaning process. Don’t worry, you’ll be running a cleaning cycle shortly with another hack from the cleanfluencer.

5. Bring on the vinegar

The final tip from Mrs Hinch for a super-clean dishwasher is to put half a mug of vinegar in the top rack and run a cycle of the machine. Make it a hot wash, we recommend. This final step will get rid of any lingering grease and grime, and ensure the machine is odour-free.

6. Mrs Hinch’s dishwasher-loading hack

Unusually, Mrs Hinch caused controversy with a recent dishwasher hack, the Express revealed. She told her fans that she doesn’t soak dishes before they go into the dishwasher. Her view is that her favourite dishwasher tablets, Fairy Platinum Plus All In One, get rid of the debris on the plate, and she advised her fans not to waste time on soaking.

She asked the Hinch army to weigh in: ‘Settle a debate guys, what is the point in soaking something or washing it up if it’s going to go in the dishwasher? I don’t get it!’ Her Instagram poll showed that more than half of her respondents weren’t with her on this thorny dishwasher issue and they would soak a dish before putting it into the dishwasher.

Our view? We think you should rinse dishes before they go in the dishwasher and remove burnt-on food, too, because it’s better for the machine and you’ll get improved cleaning results.
