Brownie recipe: how to make brownies in 30 minutes

This is the ultimate brownie recipe. Seriously, if you're after sticky, gooey brownies that melt in your mouth, you've come to the right place. Not only are these sweet treats ready in under 30 minutes, but the recipe is so simple that you can even get the kids involved.

Super gooey brownie recipe

Ingredients:

  • Unsalted butter, 200 grams
  • Dark chocolate, 200 grams
  • Plain flour, 100 grams
  • Cocoa powder, 50 grams
  • Three large eggs
  • Golden caster sugar, 300 grams
  • Optional: dried cherries, chopped nuts, chocolate chips, orange zest

Method:

1. Cut your butter into small cubes and break your chocolate into squares. Place in a glass, heatproof bowl.

2. Place your glass bowl over a saucepan of gently simmering water. The glass bowl should be larger than the saucepan, so that the butter and chocolate mixture do not come into contact with the water. 

3. Mix the chocolate and butter until completely melted. Then, remove from the heat and set aside.

4. Add your flour and cocoa powder into a separate bowl, ensuring you sieve effectively to remove any lumps.

5. In another bowl, mix your sugar and eggs together until you achieve a smooth consistency – this will require come elbow grease. Feel free to use an electric mixer in order to make this process slightly more simple.

6. Once your eggs and sugar are combined, gradually fold in your melted butter and chocolate mixture. You need to be as gentle as careful during this process, so don't get too over excited with the mixing.

7. Next, sieve the flour and cocoa powder into the mixture, adopting the same gently folding technique.

8. If you want to add any extra bits and bobs – we love the idea of chopped nuts, chocolate chips, dried cherries or orange zest – now is the time to do so.

9. Pour the mixture into a baking tray lined with grease-proof paper. Place in the oven for 25 minutes at 180º.
