Moving house is so exciting - but also one of the most stressful things you can do. It also just doesn't feel real until you have the keys in your hands, right? Anyway, a TikTok hack is here to make moving day that little bit easier.

If you're about to move, take note, as this will 100% reduce house moving stress. A TikTok user has shared a video introducing the idea of the 'first night' box, where you pack all the things you might need for a comfortable first night in your new home.

Sounds simple, but how many of us have moved, and realized we didn't have a clue where our toothbrush was come bedtime? In the clip, captioned 'This “first night” box is a must for a cozy 1st night in your new home,' @restyleliving packs essentials into a single box.

These essentials include:

  • Bedding
  • Shower curtain
  • Towels
  • Clothing
  • Cleaning supplies
  • First aid kit
  • Tools
  • Toilet paper
  • Scissors
  • Paper towels

You could also add phone chargers, plates and cutlery, shower products and some champagne. Think about your usual evening and bed-time routine, and pack anything you wouldn't want to be without.

The main thing is to avoid a situation where you have a mountain of boxes and no idea where your cutlery is. We've all been there.

This simple trick will really help you out amid the stress of moving, like a little favor for future you. You also want to make an essential house moving checklist - because the house-moving admin is truly never-ending, from cancelling bills to changing your address on your flower subscription to sorting out home insurance.

The TikTok video from @restyle has now been liked over 110,000 times, and has received lots of comments. 'This is an amazing idea, but I just know I will forget and be sobbing on the kitchen floor because I can't find the spoons,' one TikToker jokes.

It's also worth packing a suitcase of enough clean clothes to last you a week or two, so there's less pressure on getting everything unpacked straight away. There'll be so much to sort out, so planning ahead in this way will really help as you find your feet in your shiny new home.
