1. Create atmosphere with outdoor lighting
We think outdoor lighting is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to update your garden. String up some fairy lights and come dusk your garden will instantly feel more cosy. John Lewis have loads of lovely outdoor lighting (opens in new tab), including some very cute solar powered lanterns (opens in new tab), but we just think you can't go wrong with festoon lights (opens in new tab).
2. Upgrade your outdoor tableware
Since we are going to be spending a whole lot more time in our gardens this summer, we definitely think it's time to update your tableware. Camping plates and plastic cups just won't cut it this year. John Lewis have some lovely bits and lots of different price points too. We love this glass effect plates (opens in new tab), and the matching tumblers (opens in new tab) – decorate the table with jugs of water and candles just to make alfresco dining feel a bit more special.
3. Add cosiness with cushions and throws
These woven chairs (opens in new tab) are still in stock! John Lewis garden furniture is selling out so quickly at the moment that seems like a miracle. We love how they look with a throw over the back (this one is John Lewis' plain wool throw (opens in new tab)) and with plenty of cushions to add some comfort. The jute pouffe (opens in new tab) is a lovely addition to the whole create a living room outdoor thing too and makes for some handy additional seating.
4. Curate a lovely shaded area in your garden
How gorgeous is this set up? A lovely shady spot in a garden is always a good idea so you can escape the sun. You could create this dreamy image using a sheet, string it up in a tree in your garden and voila a DIY sail shade.
For a similar outdoor sofa, check out this Kettler (opens in new tab) set.
5. Get the ultimate staycation set up with a fire pit
It doesn't get more holiday at home than a fire pit (opens in new tab). John Lewis are selling out quick, but they are restocking regularly and there are a few options so check them out. Surround your fire pit with seating, including throws and cushions to create a boutique campsite feel and then get toasting your marshmallows!
