To celebrate The London Homebuilding & Renovating and Home Improvement Show at Olympia from 26–28 of September, Real Homes shares a selection of the best home projects the capital.

Shoreditch: £300,000 roof extension

After living in their penthouse apartment for six years, the owners decided to extend upwards to gain access to their roof. The result was a modern glass flat roof extension and large decked garden, housing an open plan bedroom and bathroom.

Barnet: £96,000 extension

With a growing family, the couple living in this 1960s house decided to create their dream open-plan kitchen/living area. They extended their home to provide an Edwardian-inspired orangery style living area with space for their kitchen, dining room and living room.

Kingston Vale: £590,000 remodel

This 1950s home has been dramatically remodelled with a design inspired by the owners’ previous property, which is a Huf Haus. While location and plot size were perfect, the layout did not work for them, so they built up and out to reconfigure their space.

Clapham Common: £55,000 loft conversion

Seeking more space, the couple who bought this end-terrace Victorian house removed its butterfly-like ‘London roof’ and replaced it with a ‘mansard roof’ to create an extra storey for a luxury cinema room. In doing so, they also gained spectacular views across the city.

South West London: £108,000 extension

Once perfect for the couple living here, their three bedroom Victorian terraced home became less practical when their family began to grow. Instead of a lengthy search for an affordable property, they opted to extend their kitchen and loft.
