The worst time to be worrying about boiler repair is probably at a time like this. Not only is being without heating and hot water stressful as it is, but if you are self isolating or social distancing, you will be worried about how you can get someone in for repair – without the risk of catching Coronavirus. This will be of added concern to those over the age of 70 (who are at greater risk of dying from Coronavirus) and those with underlying medical conditions.
Fortunately, boiler installers BOXT have introduced their COVID-19 SOS boiler replacement service to ensure the elderly and those with longterm health problems are prioritised. In addition to this, their engineers have had additional training to adhere to the World Health Organisation guidelines on personal hygiene, zero-contact and personal distancing. Rest assured, any vulnerable person who needs a new boiler during the proposed isolation period will get one fitted as soon as possible and with their safety a very high priority.
How can I used BOXT COVID-19 SOS if my boiler breaks down?
From Monday 23rd March, BOXT will have a dedicated 24/7 hotline for the over 70s and those considered 'at risk'. BOXT appliances can be ordered online, but the company is mindful that many prefer the security of talking directly to a customer advisor, or don't have internet access.

What are BOXT doing to minimise the risk of spreading Coronavirus?
As an online service, BOXT do not send salespeople to your property, so the only visit you will get is from the engineer. The engineers have had extra training to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, including no contact rules and enhanced awareness of hygiene.
With the weather still on the chilly side we expect that many will still be in need of heating engineers – even if the country goes into lockdown.
Andy Kerr, co-founder of BOXT; “We have already seen a significant spike in installations in recent weeks as the UK prepares for lockdown.
“As every Briton over the age of 70 will be told "within the coming weeks" to stay at home for an extended period to protect themselves, we believe it is now essential we offer a service to support those who are most at risk for additional peace of mind.
“We have also reviewed our existing procedures and will be introducing enhanced safety measures including supplying engineers with face masks and disposable gloves to ensure everyone can feel secure during these uncertain times.”
Anyone who needs a boiler and falls into these at risk groups should contact BOXT on 0800 304 7640.
