Since the furthest any of us are going on this Bank Holiday is the Costa del Living Room, we think it's a fab idea to treat the upcoming Bank Holiday, or in fact any weekend going forward as a bit of a staycation. That means breakfast in bed, Aperols in the garden at lunchtime and candle lit dinners in the evenings. So to you get your space ready for this holiday at home we have rounded up some John Lewis buys that will just make your weekend feel a bit more special.

For more affordable ways to update your home while we are spending more time in them head over to our deals hub page.

1. Treat yourself to new towels

Because what hotel has crusty towels that have hair dye stains on them? None, exactly. Treat yourself to a nice new set of towels, you can save them for best and just use them when you are having your 'holidays'. We love these Orla Kiely Linear Stem Towels, especially the pink ones with the lovely pop of orange. They just bring some bright, sunny colours into your bathroom.

2. And of course fresh John Lewis bedding is a must

Because we can't control a lot of what's going on the world right now, but we can control what sheets we choose to sleep in, and we choose the softest, prettiest sheets please. We love this gorgeous pink set up, it's a combination of the Chelsea Stripe Duvet Cover Set, the Aura Duvet Cover Set and the Linen bedding plus the gorgeous plaster coloured washed throw. Pick any of these to update your bedroom with and you are in for a treat.

3. Up your breakfast with cute tableware

Breakfast in bed is one pleasure we can all still indulge in, so make it extra special with some new John Lewis tableware. We especially like these House by John Lewis Linear Dinner Plates and the matching bowls. The lime yellow Neo mugs and Neo jug add a lovely pop of spring-like colour too.

4. Pick John Lewis garden furniture for your outdoor space

If you have a garden or a balcony, now is the time to be getting it looking lovely so when you get a nice sunny afternoon you have a place to retreat with a cup of tea (or G&T). John Lewis garden furniture is our favourite, such great quality and lasts summer after summer. Make sure you check out all of their options, they have sets for all size gardens and all styles.

5. Get a wake up light to wake you up gently

We have sworn by wake up lights from the beginning, but they are a great investment now time is a bit more... flexible. They are great for getting into a routine and just a much nicer way to be woken than a blaring alarm. We recommend the Lumie Bodyclock Shine 300 Wake up to Daylight SAD Light which actually has 20 per cent off at John Lewis right now.

Oh and that gorgeous sleep mask? It's by the amazing, much hyped brand Slip. It's 100 per cent silk and has anti-aging qualities and no bed hair in the morning either. A little luxury that we all need right now. PS Don't forget the clocks go forward this weekend!

6. Chose some luxurious skincare for a pamper evening

Because what is a staycation without a pamper night? Light some candles, pour some wine and enjoy and indulgent few hours just making yourself feel nice. John Lewis stock Rituals which are a great beauty brand that feels really luxurious but their prices are really reasonable.
