This compact Shiplap shed by Forest Garden is everything you could possibly desire from a small shed, from its reliable tongue-and-groove construction and pressure-treated timber that comes with a 15-year warranty to the choice of sizes. The smaller size is guaranteed to fit into the smallest of patios. What we especially like about the design of this shed is the mounted construction which makes it elevated, giving further protection from damp. Ready for painting.
The Perugia Wooden Tool Shed by dCor design boasts a smart, curved design and waterproofing, including a waterproof roof. Built-in shelving will help you stay organised. It's not necessarily the smallest design on our list, but it's certainly one of the best quality smaller sheds on the market. We do wish the screws they provide with the shed were of slightly better quality and all the same length.
If the only garden you have is a small front garden, then you may need to think a bit differently about your garden shed. Avoid tall sentry designs, opting for a sloping, lower design instead. The Rowlinson Mini Store is only 150cm tall and 93.5cm wide, so it can easily sit by your front porch. Or opt for the even smaller 120-centimetre version, although that one will come without the shelf.
If you want your shed to be as inconspicuous as possible (important if your outdoor space is really tiny), consider getting a rustic, untreated light wood number. The Aldsworth Outdoor Storage Box from Garden Trading is just the thing – crafted from FSC-certified spruce, it will blend in with the neutral colours of garden walls and paths, so you will forget it's even there at all. It doesn't have additional compartments, but it's so good-looking that we forgive it.
The Arc Plastic Garden Storage Box from Keter is sturdy and secure, with a locking mechanism. You can store your wheelie bins in it (the doors cater to that), but it's also great for tools and plant pots. It is made from plastic, but you wouldn't know it by the look of this handsome mini shed. Will house two standard bins, up to 240 litres in total.
If you don't really have any tools that need dedicated storage, but love muddy welly walks, what you need is not a conventional shed at all, but a specialised welly boot storage shed. The Welly Boot Storage from Garden Trading is very practical, and nice-looking with its natural finish. It also matches the Aldsworth outdoor storage box. Our only gripe about this lovely welly store are the openings at the sides; during bouts of very heavy rain water does get in from the sides, so don't store any short boots near the sides.
