We waste tons of food every year, and food going off in the fridge too quickly is a common reason. Fortunately, new, smart fridge models keep coming on the market promising to keep food fresher for longer, utilising everything from precise temperature controls to no-ice technologies. And now there is a very special fridge function that promises to keep your food fresher... by imitating the sun.

Beko are hoping to tap into consumers' fast-growing awareness of the need to cut down waste, as well as to eat heathily. Zeynep Yalim Uzun, chief Marketing Officer at Beko, commented:micking the 24-hour light cycle, including nighttime, in order to keep your veggies fresher. Howc does it work? Apparently, research has shown that this technology has helped to keep vitamin A and vitamin C levels in the produce stable for much longer.

The HarvestFresh technology will be available in selected Beko fridge lines from 2020.
