B&Q have now reopened 155 stores nationwide having initially closed all of their stores to the public. After shutting in response to lockdown they are taking measures to maintain social distancing practices.

Following a trial over the weekend, which saw 14 stores reopened, a further 61 stores re-opened to the public on Wednesday, followed by another 80 on Thursday.

That said, it is by no means 'business as usual.' In a bid to align themselves with government guidance and protect the wellbeing of customers and staff, alike, B&Q have announced a range of 'social distancing controls,'. These include capping the number of customers allowed in store at any one time, and ensuring that customers respect two metre social distancing guidance while navigating their way through the store.

While we'd still only encourage you to leave the house to pick up essentials, it's worth considering that the re-opening of stores might also reduce demand for deliveries, which is worth knowing if you're in self isolation.

It's also worth commenting on the fact that the re-opening of stores is a somewhat controversial matter, given the rush of shoppers that we're likely to see seeking out paint, plants and other DIY materials that some may consider non-essential. However, it's important to remember that for many people DIY is a great way to maintain good mental health or manage addiction during this challenging time.
