We know it can be hard to keep up with fast changing lighting technologies, but there's some simple information about the technological developments and legislation that will give you a good head start. Changes made to EU legislation have meant that the lighting industry have had to adapt and adjust to new rules quickly. These legislative changes have already seen the phasing out of incandescent bulbs, and a move towards the gradual phasing out of halogen bulbs in favour of more energy efficient LED bulb types.

You’ve probably heard a lot about LED bulbs and how they are better value for money and better for the environment. With new EU legislation coming into effect from September 1st 2018, Halogen bulbs will begin to be phased out of the UK. Traditional Halogen bulbs wasted up to 65% of the energy created for light as heat, with LED Bulbs, you get a cooler bulb even at its brightest. Users of LED bulbs will see their energy bills reduced, as far less power is needed for the same level of brightness that you'd expect from a 60W Halogen bulb for example. With new technology coming onto the market for LED lighting, such as dim-able and multi-level bulbs for touch lamps, there's no better time to make the switch to LED

Energy Efficient

As well as the advances in LED technology, and a general decrease in the standard wattage level for many bulbs, energy efficiency ratings have been going up the scale over the last few years. Most of our bulbs are rated at A++ and we're proud to see so many of our suppliers making the change to help the environment.
