What should I look for when buying a coffee table?
Firstly consider exactly what function you want your coffee table to have. Do you want a minimal, simple perch for your cuppa and remote, or do you want it to be the main storage space in your room? Do you want it to be the focal point of your space, or are you happy for it to blend into the background as a functional piece of furniture? You should also consider materials. If your room already has gold accents, such as a gold pendant light or accessories, then a gold coffee table will pick these up nicely. But if you're going for a more rustic, country style space, then a wooden coffee table might be a better bet.
How far should a coffee table be from the couch?
This, of course, will depend on the size of your room, but in general it's a good idea to leave around 16 inches between your coffee table and your couch, to allow for both leg room as you're sitting down and for walking around the space. You don't want to choose a coffee table that's too low down or too high up in comparison to the seat height of your couch, so when choosing your coffee table, look for a design that's within about four inches of your couch's height.
