After the best outdoor projectors? Whether you love a movie night with the family in the back yard, or you enjoy the romance of watching a movie in the great outdoors while camping, an outdoor projector is the best way to bring the magic of movies (or Netflix, whichever you prefer) outside.
We've rounded up the best projectors that deliver on picture quality, connectivity, ease of set-up, and competitive pricing. Our favorite – the Yaber projector – has it all, but check out our other choices for more options at a variety of price points.
Our top pick for performance and value
This is our top choice of outdoor projectors for the quality of image and its huge screen.
- 4D keystone correction
- Huge screen up to 200 inches
- Very bright
This exceptionally well-built Yaber projector is the first of its kind, offering 4D Keystone image correction that ensures the picture you're projecting is always a standard rectangle.
With 6800 lumens, it's exceptionally bright, and it has a much higher than average resolution of 1080 p, which prevents any image distortion. Oh, and our favorite feature of this mighty projector, is the massive picture it can project – as large as an enormous 200 inches across.
The best quality projector we found in its price range
The outdoor projector that'll give you the best experience for an excellent price tag.
- Advanced LCD display
- Brighter than other projectors in its range
- Large viewing up to 18 feet
- Not as bright as some others
The Topvision 1080P Supported Video Projector delivers a better image quality on a large screen than other projectors at its price point, making it exceptionally good value for money.
The LCD display technology delivers a super crisp picture, even at a vast 18-feet projection size. It's also highly compatible with a wide range of devices, including Roku Stick, Chromecast, laptops, PS3, and Xbox. It's nice and bright for a projector of its class, but at 4500 lux, it's not the brightest on our list.
It's portable, but performs like a bigger one
The best compact projector you can take with you anywhere.
- Small design
- Long lamp life
- !00-inch projector screen included
- Eye protect
- Needs a flat surface to project from
- Works best in complete darkness
The QKK Mini Projector is the model you should consider in a smaller garden, or if you're planning on using it while camping.
This mini projector is very portable at just under four pounds, and can easily be connected up to your phone for easy streaming. It's also built to last with a long lamp life, and is kinder on your eyes than some of the brighter models on our list. The biggest bonus with this model, though, is the included projecting screen, making it a great value purchase. Bear in mind that you might not get as good results from this projector if it's not completely dark outside, or if you're trying to project from an angle.
Be amazed by the low noise level
This outdoor projector won't overheat or annoy you with a noisy fan.
- Quietest model on our list
- Advanced color engine
- Easily connects to your smartphone
- The edges can be slightly out of focus
A great model if you don't want to spend a huge amount of money, the Vankyo delivers a very decent viewing experience with vibrant color thanks to its advanced color engine.
Easy to use by simply plugging into your phone or laptop, its real selling point is its exceptionally quiet, cool operation: it won't heat up, and it won't make the characteristic noise many projectors make. The only downside of this projector is that the picture quality may not be as amazing as the others, particularly around the edges of the screen. Still, for a movie night in your back yard, this is a great option.
You won't find better at such a low price
Best projector that won't break the bank, while still delivering a nice viewing experience.
- Very affordable
- Big screen projection up to 170 inches
- Advanced cooling system reduces noise
- Not the sharpest picture
- Needs complete darkness
If you want something easy-going for the occasionally movie night at home or in the garden, the very reasonably priced AuKing projector is hard to beat.
It may be cheap, but it has most of the functions of much more expensive projectors: big screen projection as large as 170 inches, low noise and fast cooling technology, and 1080p resolution is possible, which is rare at this price point. You will need to be realistic about the capabilities of this little machine, though: picture quality will be best when viewed from about a five-metre distance, and it does need complete darkness.
Want a professional quality projector with picture quality that will blow your mind? Go for the Yaber projector – native high resolution and exceptional brightness make it suitable for a full-on home cinema experience even in a vast space. For a good mid-range option, we suggest the Topvision, which offers many of the same delights at just a fraction of the price, albeit without the mega brightness. And if you're on a budget? Definitely go for the AuKing – small, cheap, but very, very decent.
