How to cook tuna steak
To cook tuna steak to perfection, you'll only need a few basic ingredients which will help your tuna steak sing. The key, therefore, is choose the best quality tuna you can afford – look out for a dark red, evenly coloured meat.
Besides that, you will need:
- Tuna steak
- Olive oil
- A pinch of salt
1. Lay out your tuna steaks, drizzling with olive oil and seasoning with plenty of salt.
2. For the best results, we'd recommend cooking your tuna steaks on a griddle pan – you'll find our favourites below.
3. Before you begin cooking, you'll want to ensure that the pan is nice and hot. Once you're happy that it is, add your tuna and sear it (you should hear it sizzling if the pan is warm enough) until it's brown on the outside. This should take around 45 to 60 seconds.
Remember, you don't need to worry about cooking your steak thoroughly all the way through. In fact, you'll probably enjoy your tuna steak a lot more if it's slightly rare.
Serve with anything from salad or cooked vegetables to potatoes, fries, couscous or whatever else you fancy
