Transform your child’s room with their favourite family images

Encouraging children to decorate their rooms or play rooms is an important step in their development, helping to give them a sense of ownership over their space.

Babies sleep in nurseries that have been proudly decorated by their parents. But as they grow, children soon develop their own passions and interests that they want to express their love for by covering their walls and beds with everything from dinosaurs to diggers, cartoon characters to TV heroes.

We love to fill the walls of the family home with memories and examples of little one’s creativity, right from the very first palm or foot pressed into paint and onto paper or into clay. As they get older, they start making their own marks in chalks, crayon and paint, and want them proudly on display.

When they are big enough to hold their first (extra robust) camera, or are allowed to take photos with mum or dad’s phone, they can start taking unique pictures offering a child’s eye view. The best – and most in-focus – of these are perfect for being blown up for framing, ready to be showcased as they take their first steps into decorating their rooms.

CEWE has lots of different, creative wall art options to update children’s bedrooms with pictures they have taken or pictures of them, for a very personal and fun space.

They can choose their favourite selfie or a snap of the family having a brilliant time at the beach; take an ‘arty’ shot of a pattern or design that’s caught their eye; put together a still life of all their cuddly toys, or get a portrait of their pet looking at their most adorable.

When it comes to framing, there are lots of exciting possibilities that can help enhance their shots. Frames can come in different colours, from natural wood to metallics to bright shades that complement the room’s decor.

For a fabulously fun display though, try hexagonal shapes, like hexxas. The photo can be printed across all of the shapes and pieced together like a jigsaw. Or have a different image on each hexagon that can be pieced together to tell the story of a fun trip or special event – and they can easily be moved around when they fancy a change.

If they simply can’t decide which picture they like the most, collage frames are the answer – with up to 27 images laid out on a choice of backings, such as aluminium, acrylic or foam board.

New experiences create new memories captured on camera, and poster hangers are the perfect quick change system for showing them off. The poster hangers are made from sustainably sourced wood, and are available in black, white or natural oak. The pictures are printed on classic paper or professional photographic papers in gloss, matte, silk, fine art or pearl, and can be slipped easily into the frames at the top and bottom and attached magnetically, then slipped out and switched whenever the room needs an update. It is a brilliant way of getting children involved in their interior décor, and getting a feel for expressing themselves through how their space is styled.
