IKEA has released a limited edition Swedish meatball scented candle. We'll just let this statement sink in a little.
Everyone who eats meat and has visited an IKEA store anywhere has probably tried them. The pandemic undoubtedly will have had diehard IKEA meatball fans miss their favorite day-out-at-IKEA treat.
We don't know if this creation will join the list of the best candles to fragrance your home with, but hey, you never know. Rumor has it the fragrance that drives men wild is fried bacon, so we won't be at all surprised if this one turns out to be a real hit.
The limited edition candle, called HUVUDROLL in Swedish, is part of the brand’s limited edition IKEA Store in a Box which brings together the sensory experiences of visiting an IKEA store in, well, a box. The box was created especially for the 10th Anniversary of the IKEA U.S. Family Program.
The IKEA Family Program is a free loyalty program available to everyone. The benefits of being a member include access to special offers, rewards and events. IKEA is planning all kinds of special releases and offers between August 6 and August 22, and the candle is part of the weeks of surprises.
You can't buy the candle, unfortunately (or fortunately? We really can't tell), but you can register for a chance to win it, or the IKEA Store in a Box at IKEA-USA.com/10YearsofFamily. Of the entrants to the sweepstakes, 1,925 winners will get a sniff of the meatball candle. That is only a fraction of the number of people who enjoy IKEA meatballs when they go to the store – over a billion meatballs are sold across the IKEA stores each year.
IKEA commented: 'Staying at home can be hard, but we want to help make everyone's lives that little bit easier and more enjoyable. Bon appétit or, smaklig måltid, as we say in Sweden!'
Whether you find this invitation appetizing, or somewhat weird, or both, it's definitely worth checking out what else IKEA has on offer for their family members during the event. We are quite keen on a free IKEA blue bag – they are perfect for storage and moving.
