1. Use storage baskets for the prettiest storage
Let's start with a classic, storage baskets. Despite what the picture above might say with a single sock draped effortlessly over the side, they can store a lot. And they also look great groups together so you can cram in even more storage. Pop them at the end of your bed, next to a sofa or in a hallway for a super easy storage solution that will add style to your space too.
This is the iconic Fladis Basket from Ikea, that every single person on Instagram seems to have in the corner of every single room. Cute though isn't it?
2. Create some quick open shelving with a picture ledge
Love the look of open plan shelving in a kitchen? Get the look cheaply and quickly using picture ledges! The Maleras ledges are wide enough to display some of your best crockery but won't take up as much room as a full-on shelf, so perfect for over a counter.
Obviously, this would work just as well in a bedroom or a living room too for storing books, houseplants, cute vases, etc. etc. For more kitchen storage ideas though, head over to our feature.
3. Add compact ladder shelving to any room
This ladder style shelving is everywhere at the moment! And it's easy to see why. It looks gorgeous, doesn't take up a load of room and makes for perfect bathroom storage as seen above but what's great about ladder storage is it really will fit anywhere in any room.
The Ikea Vilto unit from Ikea is only £55, too. Which is a great price compared with similar storage solutions we've seen elsewhere. Use it to store your spare towels and add some interest with baskets, jars and candles.
4. Get yourself an kitchen trolley
We say kitchen trolley, but it would be just as useful in a bedroom as makeup storage, a home office as stationary storage, it's a very adaptable thing a kitchen trolley.
We have sung the praises of the humble Raskog trolley. It's just perfect if you are trying to squeeze more storage into a small kitchen. But even if you're sorted for storage in your gloriously large kitchen, the Raskog looks lovely filled with glass jars. In fact, it almost has the same effect as open shelving – just adds a bit of interest and is super practical.
5. Hang a humble peg board
One piece of Ikea storage that has been gaining a bit of a cult following recently is Ikea's Skadis. Seriously, it has its own hashtag with more than 1,000 pics on Instagram! But really any peg board will have a similar decluttering effect.
Pegboards aren't all substance and no style. Pick a colour theme for your pegboard that matches your interiors and use it to add personality to your room, as well as storage. This monochrome home office has a really cool industrial vibe that's only been enhanced by the pegboard.
