This pastel kitchen makeover is right on trend with its soft pastel colors, textured finishes, and clean, contemporary lines. It might surprise you to see what it used to look like, though, as well as where the new kitchen was sourced.

This elegant and creative kitchen was originally installed in another house and has been given a new lease of life and a ‘forever home’ in a newly built extension. Owners Alexandra and John Feehan decided to source the ‘new’ kitchen for their renovation and extension project via Used Kitchen Exchange. This is one of those kitchen ideas that will appeal to anyone who wants their kitchen renovation to be environmentally conscious – as well as cheaper than an all-new kitchen remodel.

The re-located kitchen has been expertly positioned in its new home. The original wood effect finish on the island has been replaced with new dusky pink doors. The island worktop itself and the breakfast seating area were looking a bit dated, with an uninspiring and too-safe cream color scheme.

The recessed area of the original kitchen also had dated painted cabinetry and tiling and wasn't really using the available space in the best possible way.

The bland and unfashionable colors have been replaced by soft, on-trend pastels that give the kitchen a unique look. The breakfast dining area has been accented with contemporary seating and lighting to lift the overall design and make it more modern. A textured finish has been added to the backsplash area to add more dimension to the space.

The new dusky pink paint finishes look restful against the exterior greenery. It's an inspired, adult shade of pink that shows off the high-quality fixtures in a contemporary metal design.

The previously under-used recess area has been reimagined – the new kitchen includes a utility room with a tiled design and two washing machines, for extra convenience. One of the utility room storage ideas from this project to take on board – two washing machines are better than one.

The double-door larder cupboard was a real bonus; John tiled the back section for a luxurious finish. Every kitchen offered on the Used Kitchen Exchange website has been fully inspected and photographed prior to being offered for sale. Director Helen Lord said: 'We only list kitchens that are in good enough condition to sell. Each one is checked, and there’s a dismantling, collection, and delivery service, plus a two-week after-sales support service for both sellers and buyers. And of course, for sellers, there’s the appeal of giving a kitchen a new home and receiving some money towards the new kitchen – far preferable to a builder's skip and landfill!'
