See that gorgeous wall hanging. Do you believe us when we tell you that it came together using a few dollar store staples like a pizza pan, a calendar print, and other miscellanenous craft supplies?

Amber Strong, of the DIY blog The Makers Map, shared a video last month on Facebook where she turned a $1 pizza pan into the ultimate farmhouse modern chic Christmas door hanging.  Her facebook video has garnered over 51 million views with hundreds of thousands of likes and shares.  The simple project is quite mesemerizing to watch in action, and the results lead to a welcoming and creative display for your home.

In the video, Strong takes a simple pizza pan, paints it with black chalk paint, cuts a print that reads Bless Our Nest— actually from a page in a wall calendar—to size, adheres with modpodge, then adds further details like string (from a mop head), half wood beads, and faux greenery before topping with a handmade bow and attaching a cord to hang. Coming from someone who gets sucked into craft videos, but is not the best at implementing them, this definitely seems possible to do yourself.

Strong also breaks down the steps further in a blog post. In the blog post, she also shares a tip on how to make your craft suitable for year round display. Hint, it has to do with the bow.

Everything is from Dollar Tree including the pizza pan and the 2021 Simply Blessed Calendar that the project revolves around. Strong mentions that the Dollar Tree calendars are highly sought after, and has even seen people fighting over them. If they're gone, or you don't have a Dollar Tree near you, you can use any similarly sized print or even scrapbook paper to make the design your own. We're also totally for up-cycling your soon to expire 2020 calendar and giving new use to its images.

This isn't the first time Strong has made this pizza pan craft. Earlier this year, using another Dollar Tree calendar, she made one  that read "Peace on Earth. " Her followers loved it so much, she auctioned it off in her first Crafty Crew Christmas Angel Program, where over $4,000 went toward Christmas gifts for children in-need. But for the "Bless our Nest" design, that's all for enjoyment.
