No longer are we limiting out children’s nursery decoration to pink or blue. Valspar has revealed its most popular gender-neutral nursery paint shade to be Rabbit’s Foot, a calming and pared back shade that can be complimented with any colour.

The simple shade is ideal for creating a simple and cosy scandi-style space, and it also means it'll be easy and less expensive to update the room as your child grows.

Psychologists suggest that at first, babies can only see in monochrome, which means that a neutral or grey colour scheme could promote visual stimulation, as well as thoughts and emotions.

“Rabbit’s Foot has been selected as the perfect gender-neutral paint shade that will create a soothing interior for new-borns, without sticking to tradition. As well as offering parents a wide range of colours, our Premium Blend v700™ wall and ceiling paint benefits from excellent scrubbability and great stain resistance, making it a trustworthy choice for nurseries,” says Kasia Wiktorowicz, Valspar brand manager at Sherwin-Williams.

What’s more, interior stylist, Kate McPhee, predicts that other gender-neutral colours, such as sage green and subtle yellow are going to be big nursery shades for 2018.

Valspar's Soothing Sage is set to be a winner for this year. The shade perfectly blends with both blue and pink, meaning the space can be easily adapted for different little ones!
