The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox rivalry is one of the greatest in all sports. Now two top players are taking the baseball battle off the field: they’re upping the Mother’s Day gift-giving competition with some help from the French manufacturer, Le Creuset.

The limited-edition "MLB Signature Series" includes the Chicago Cubs in Marseille, the Boston Red Sox in Cerise, the Los Angeles Dodgers in Clean White, and the New York Yankees in Indigo. Each dutch oven is embossed with the team logo and has a stainless steel knob on the lid — making it easier than ever to bring your favorite team (and players) home for dinner.

The Real Homes team had the opportunity to exclusively sit down with New York Yankees' first baseman, Luke Voit, and Boston Red Sox (newly acquired) ace, Adam Ottavino, to discuss the brand-new release.

Continue reading to see how Voit and Ottavino are keeping the rivalry alive — off-the-field, and in the kitchen.

What makes this MLB Dutch Oven special to you?

New York Yankees, Luke Voit: When I first learned that Le Creuset was launching a collaboration with The MLB™, I couldn’t believe it. Everyone knows Le Creuset is an iconic cookware brand, and it’s been a lot of fun working with them on the launch. [As] I said, I travel a lot during the season so, I really savor the moments when I can enjoy a home-cooked meal with my wife, and cooking in this Dutch Oven makes it extra special.

Boston Red Sox, Adam Ottavino: The MLB™ Signature Red Sox Dutch Oven brings together two of my favorite things, baseball and spending time with my family. I have a very busy schedule, so any time I can spend in the kitchen with my wife and girls and eat together with them around the table is extremely special to me.

What’s the biggest change you’ve seen using the Dutch Oven vs. other pots and pans?

Voit: The MLB™ Signature Yankees Dutch Oven is a game-changer because it can be used for SO many different recipes, and I know it will last forever. With the carnitas, I can both slow cook the pork in the oven, then crisp it up on the stovetop once it’s shredded, then serve it out of the Dutch Oven on the table. It’s functional but also a really cool statement piece.

Ottavino: The MLB™ Signature Red Sox Dutch Oven is extremely high-quality; you can tell when you hold it, and you cook with it that it is made really well. The enameled cast iron heats evenly and allows for perfect browning of meats and veggies. The Dutch Oven is versatile.

We find ourselves using it for a lot of things from soups to sauces. It's a good-looking pot. I don't mind it sitting on my stove even when I am not using it. When I am done cooking, I bring it right to the table. It also makes our girls and my wife feel a part of the team when I cook with something for the family that represents such an important part of my life (which is baseball and the Red Sox).

Would you recommend the Dutch Oven for Mother’s Day, and if so, why?

Voit: If your mom is a baseball fan, then YES! It’s a no-brainer. The Dutch Oven is a kitchen staple and the MLB™ collection is beautiful (I might be a little biased).

Plus, it’s 7.25QT so it’s perfect for cooking a big meal if you have a large family. There are so many different types of recipes that you can make with the Dutch oven so you can accommodate all of your family’s wants. It is super easy and convenient to cook with as well as easy to clean and store. It is a great gift idea for Mother's Day!

Ottavino: It’s an excellent piece of cookware and is perfect for anyone who loves the Red Sox. Giving it as a gift is also an easy way to get some extra home-cooked meals out of it. My mother-in-law has been begging my wife for the Red Sox one now, so I think we know at least what we are getting our moms for Mother's Day this year.
