The August bank holiday is upon us, and we are ready to shop some sales! Yes, it might seem like some retailers have a permanent sale on, but this could be the last chance to see massive discounts ahead of Black Friday and the Boxing Day sales.

What's more, summer sales lead to a very different set of items being discounted. So whether you want a last-minute garden furniture bargain or another end-of-season special, we have you covered.

Want to see all the current live deals? Check out our deals hub. Or, read on for the Real Homes insider info on the August bank holiday 2019 sales bonanza.

What should you buy in the August bank holiday sales?

Why you can trust Real Homes Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.

Retailers are getting rid of seasonal stock, so this is the perfect time to grab an absolute steal on everything summery. We are talking garden products, holiday accessories and luggage and stuff like outdoor toys or leisure items. Had your eye on a fancy pants picnic basket? Now's the time to get it.

There are also great deals on appliances. While these tend to be less seasonal in function, many tech manufacturers release new models at the end of the year for peak trading (November through to January sales). A lot of the big tech trade shows (heard of CES in Las Vegas?) take place in autumn and winter so the months before are all about getting rid of old stock. Televisions are a common bargain as people want the best and latest models for the Christmas holidays.

Finally, as we go into colder months, the interiors trends move towards making a space feel cosier. Goodbye summer brights, hello chunky knit throws, candles and cosy cushions. So, if you are someone who loves filling your home with pops of colour year-round, or just wants some floral bedding to stow away until spring, check out the sales.
