We simply wouldn't be without our best indoor plants, which bring a lovely dose of greenery into our living spaces. Plus, it turns out that while we've been lovingly tending to our plants, we may also have been building up a nice little investment.

According to a study by Money.co.uk, the houseplants that could be worth a fortune in your living room are... The Monstera Dubia, Alocasias and Caladiums and the Monstera Thai Constellation.
Houseplants are absolutely key in any home, to the point where if we walk into a home without any, we notice their absence straight away. But we weren't aware of just how lucrative our houseplant obsession could be.
‘Not only have house plants become the world's new obsession but many people are already exposed to a variety of plants and could be secretly sitting on a gold mine,' says Salman Haqqi, Financial Expert from Money.co.uk.
'With a bit of knowledge and research into the market,' Salman says, 'these plant parents could be growing their home jungles into profitable investments in no time.’
Monstera Dubia

If you recognize this houseplant from your living room, you could be sitting on a gold mine. A cutting of a Monstera Dubia plant usually costs around £21.25.
However, a full-grown plant will sell for on average £184 and up to £200, making a profitable +766% from the initial investment.
Within a year, the Monstera Dubia can grow 1-2 feet tall and can continue to grow up to 10 feet - germinating plenty of leaves and leaving you in constant supply of profitable cuttings to earn from.

Alocasias and Caladiums
There are many Alocasia and Caladium plants to choose from and on average you can buy a bulb for £4 - £4.79. Both only take a matter of weeks to grow, which could make for a quick investment turnaround.
Alocasia plants, also known as ‘Elephant Ears’ or ‘Dragon Scale’ due to their shape, can sell on as adult plants for an average of £31.89. Larger forms of the plant can even sell for up to £80.
These plants have grown in popularity over the years, so there's a good chance you have one already.
Full-grown Caladiums - the ones with purple, white and green leaves - also bring in a healthy profit. They sell for on average £23.02.
Monstera ‘Thai Constellation’
This gorgeous marble-leafed plant is one of the most popular houseplants out there. It’s also the most expensive plant in the study and can take up to two years to fully grow.
But a cutting of a Monstera ‘Thai Constellation’ can be bought for an average price of £165.00 - and can also sell for a lot more depending on the type of cut. Once fully grown, the average price of a Thai Constellation Monstera is £289.14, but it's also been known to sell for a whopping £400.
