What is Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is a sales event from the retailer which began as a thank you to its Prime members over a decade ago, offering flash discounts and deals only available to Prime members. 

Now, it is an annual event, and happens typically in July and again later in the year, offering exclusive sale prices to Prime members.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

The 2024 Prime Day was from July 16-17 and is available to Prime members and those on a 30-day free Prime trial, students aged 18-22, and Amazon Household members. The 2025 date has not been announced yet, but I'll be sure to update this page when it is announced.

Can you shop deals without Amazon Prime membership?

No, you can't. But there is a slight loophole. If you take advantage of the Amazon Prime free trial for 30 days, and you can enjoy the same deals and super-fast Prime delivery like fully-fledged members. Just remember to cancel your membership before the end of the trial so it doesn't automatically charge you. I have been a Prime member for 14 years and there isn't a year that goes by that I skip it.

I use my Prime membership weekly, and love the fast delivery, deals, easy returns and other benefits including Prime TV and its well worth the spend. I pay it annually for ease but you can set up a monthly payment to spread the cost.

For the US, Amazon Prime subscription costs are currently $14.99 a month, or an annual payment of $139, which will save you over $40 compared to the monthly subscription.

First, we navigate to Amazon, and search various sections for the top deals, as well as Prime Day Deals, and then we compare those items to our own records of the latest prices, or as available on camelcamelcamel, a price checker to make sure deals are really good deals worth sharing. 

We also look specifically for items that we have tried and tested ourselves, as well as checking and reading hundreds, if not thousands of customer reviews during our collation of great bargains. I too have a small outdoor space, and while I am super grateful to have a patio at all while living in an apartment near the city, I will admit that it's challenging at times. This compact Weber gets major points from as you can cook for more than four people at a time. Ideal if you have guests over, it's definitely fit for home use on a small patio or tiny balcony. It also comes in a range of colors, though it's only on sale in black RN. Because you can use its lid while cooking, you can control the temperature of your grill and it can even cook full joints of meat.

Its cooking space is circular which gives the grill a bowl shape, meaning that you can't use it to indirectly cook foods, but no biggie. Every time I've used it it's been ready to cook within just 15 to 20 minutes and it stays hot for a long time, so I managed to batch cook for an entire party of people. I loved how the lid can be used while you're cooking or serve as a grill guard against the wind. Its lid also has a damper control, allowing you to choose how much airflow gets in the grill. To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of its tuck-n-carry lid as it's not as secure as I thought it would be. That's why I think it's a better home grill. If you put charcoal in it for a day trip, I am almost positive it would spill out in your car.

Otherwise, it's easy to clean — I put the grates in my dishwasher! It comes with a briquette bowl to measure charcoal with ease. I gave this grill to my parents to use while I tested other grills, and they've left it in their yard for the last year in between uses. All they do is wipe it down before every cooking sesh, and it takes up no space in their huge yard. They say it's perfect for them because they only use a grill a handful of times during the year.

The Velvetiser dupe and its specs

On looks alone, the black Chocolatier is pretty similar, and coming from the UK's oldest homeware brand, it's no surprise that it matches the more expensive model in terms of smooth hot chocolate results. Sure, you can use a milk frother, but this is much more impressive (and still small enough to have on your countertop).

Other than making a rich vessel of chocolatey goodness, it works in tandem with my coffee machine (where I can add a shot of espresso to make a mocha) and froth larger quantities without using the steam wand. 

For something that would totally pass as a self-care purchase or Christmas gift, it's a total bargain, especially while many of us are tightening the purse strings.

The one gripe I have with it is that I do actually like my drinks a little hotter (and I'm saying that despite having scalded my tongue a fair few times on coffee shop hot chocolate!). But to counter that again, this makes it more than ideal for anyone with kids that wants to make them a winter treat.

Drink customisation
At home, I tend to switch between dairy and plant-based milk. I keep a selection of chocolate flakes on hand (I do prefer the darker milk chocolate bits that are 65% cocoa) and always use my favorite mug. I also am unapologetic for the mountain of whipped cream and toppings I use.

When I feel like going a little more luxe, I'll choose the 70% cocoa option, I might add a pinch of sea salt or cinnamon, and adorn the rim of a glass coffee cup with a little cayenne pepper for an Aztec spin. Honestly, you can go to town with this machine and that 360-degree swivel makes me feel like a bit of a barista. Even matcha lattes are possible by subbing out chocolate flakes for your favorite powdered green tea.

Why do you need a hot chocolate maker?

The biggest advantage of using a hot chocolate maker is that you'll get super smooth results since your beverage is being constantly being stirred as it gently heats. So you won't end up with that gross skin that sits on top of hot milk and you won't scald the milk and/or chocolate either in the microwave or on the hob.

Personally, I pick a lot of faults with shop-bought cups of cocoa. They're either too sweet, made with a powder that's not properly stirred (hello saccharine sweet bottom), or there's no whipped cream. Our best electric blanket is Cozi Home's heated throw. And there's no surprise as it's the cosiest we've tried. The clue was in the name it seems! 

The cosy stuff
And since it's so easy to switch on, and to care for, there's no reason not to. The heat controller (which is the simplest we've seen, despite the more advanced settings) is detachable. It can be quickly removed to wash the entire rest of the blanket. Whilst the fabric is polyester so not as eco-friendly as we would have liked, it does wash and dry well. We've tried it on a quick cycle and tumble-dried it on low. The detachable controller also has the added benefit of doubling up this electric blanket as a throw when you don't need the heat. Bonus!

Energy-efficiency
It has nine heat settings, yes nine. Most electric blankets have six, max. This includes a plus H button that blasts high heat for 60 minutes before dropping back to one. Being able to control the heat with more precision means you won't waste energy on a setting that's too hot, or too cold for your liking. All this for just over £60? You get why it's the best, right? 

During testing
Making both a soft sleep surface and a warm wrap-around blanket for nights-in in front of a film, I can't get enough of using this blanket in every place possible. I tend to pop in on a timer for around half an hour before I'm due to jump into bed, I love the way it adds a layer of warmth (not like a sweaty sleep surface of an under-the-sheet alternative).

We'll cover the more practical elements next, but what puts this electric blanket above the rest is how gorgeous it looks. The faux fur feels luxuriously soft and washes well. It's a super stylish alternative to the purely functional, pale yellow electric blankets that give you granny vibes. 

The cosy stuff
We've had this blanket on our bed since getting it out of the box. And it's now a stable part of getting our room ready for autumn. It goes great with our tester grey-coloured bedroom, but we know it'd look great in any space including the living room. In fact, even without switching the heat on, it's an extra layer to snuggle under. 

Energy efficiency

During testing
For when I want to show off, perhaps my friend is coming over for a sleepover, or my parents are stopping by to see the flat, I get out this electric blanket. It's just so chic. Besides the great range of settings, I'm just obsessed with how it looks on the bed. You wouldn't even know it's electric. 

Let's face it: it doesn't just get cold in your bedroom. Until the warmer spring/summer months, you might feel the chill while watching your favourite Netflix series or spending time at home. But, rather than sticking the central heating on, warm up with this soft Sherpa electric blanket. 

The cosy stuff
Great for snuggles in the living room, extra hospitable help in a guest room, or in a reading nook, this heated throw is multipurpose. And thanks to its stylish design, it doesn't look out of place, in any space. 

Energy-efficiency
While we may have needed to wash this one more than we would have liked, due to it being used most days, by more than one person, it's still been more energy efficient than switching on the heating. Besides, it's a relatively affordable buy to begin with. With six different settings, a timer, and an automatic switch-off, there's no concern when it comes to choosing your temperature. Though we did notice this one takes a little longer to heat up, which may impact on running costs. 

During testing
I've had this on our bed, over the sofa, and even wrapped around us at the desk. Used by more than one flat member, it's become a household necessity. But what I like the most about this, is that it's the easiest to clean. Completely washable, we've popped this throw in the machine and it's come out just as soft. 

Okay, so it's not exactly an electric blanket, but we couldn't not include this heated seat pad from Stoov. The smaller version of a cosy throw is ideal for when you're working from home. Rather than putting on the heating during the day, let this battery-operated buy warm up your seat as you work. 

The cosy stuff
It's not big enough to use in bed (unfortunately) but this cute heat pad is cordless to give you 1-3 hours of heat, from any seat. There are three heat settings, which may not seem like a lot compared to others higher up on this list, but we think it's all you need. On the weekends, or when you decide to pop into the office, simply recharge and pop the cover in the wash, it'll be ready for when you get back. 

Energy-efficiency
Spending two days a week working from home, and being reluctant to turn on the radiators with the risk of ranking up the energy bill, this heated pad has proven essential. It's not plug-in and instead is battery operated, which comes in handy for taking it just about anywhere; how about in the car?

During testing
I've got this clever little companion and couldn't imagine getting through the winter period without it. We've had it for around a month and can gladly say we're yet to need to replace the batteries. In testing
I've used this one traditionally as you would under my top sheet. And although I'm a hot sleeper, I have still loved having it on when it's been super cold at night. As mentioned, making sure it is turned off has been a little hit-and-miss, and I have found myself waking up super warm a few hours after falling asleep. Still, for cooler sleepers who really struggle to get cosy in bed, its a no-brainer.

Our favorite electric blanket is Cosi Home's heated throw. We've tried the one in the UK which is called Cozee Home, by comparison, and it's by far the coziest we've tried. Surprise, surprise! It's perfect for both layering under your duvet or using as a wraparound blanket for movie night, we can't get cozy without it. 

In testing
I found this one easy to use and just as quick to clean, giving me more of a reason to keep using it. The heat controller (which is the simplest we've seen, despite the more advanced settings) is detachable, and I've even used it without the heat setting in the style of a traditional blanket. This also means I can wash the entire thing. While the fabric is polyester — not as eco-friendly as I would have liked — it does wash and dry well. I've washed it on a quick cycle and tumble dried on low. 

Energy-efficiency
It has nine heat settings, impressive! Most electric blankets have six, max. This includes a plus H button that blasts high heat for 60 minutes before dropping back to one. Being able to control the heat with more precision means you won't waste energy on a setting that's too hot or too cold for your liking. But, it is the most expensive on this list. If you can justify the one-off price, then it'd be worthwhile. 

It's safe to say it can get cold just about anywhere in the house, especially if you have an open-plan living room and kitchen. So you'll be glad to know this electric blanket is not just for the bed. It may be sold in standard mattress sizes, but it also comes as a throw option. It may look and feel great, but it does only have four heat settings. That being said, it's thick and furry, so maybe you wouldn't want it to get too hot anyway. It isn't the most energy efficient on this list, but it sure is cheap. You get what you pay for it seems. So if you're not willing to invest right away, but could do with a buy to get you through a few chilly nights, then we'd still recommend this one for its value.

Amazon Prime Day is the retailer's largest sale of the year and began as a celebration of Prime customers in 2015. It's been going strong ever since. There are thousands of products on sale and special promotions available globally shopping event. It started as a 24-hour bonanza, and in recent years, expanded into 48 hours due to its popularity.

Last year marked the biggest Prime Day in history, with over $2.5 billion worth of deals snagged by savvy shoppers.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?

Amazon Prime Day 2024 finished on July 17. We anticipate a second Prime Day, dubbed Prime Big Deal Days to come along in October as this is what has happened over the last few years.

Arriving in a box, a couple of reviewers have mentioned that it is quite bulky so you may need a couple of people to help lift the mattress into position for you. It's received very high marks for how comfortable it is with deep sleep experiences being shared and he noticeable lack of motion transfer (which is a good thing).

The Breeze mattress by Sweetnight is a good choice for all you hot sleepers out there which will make sleeping during the summer months a whole lot cooler.

What do you get for your money?
Priced at round $600 for a Queen, this mattress is one of the most expensive in our guide. However, it does come with a 10 year manufacturer warranty against defects, a US based customer service team and a trial which although doesn't disclose a time frame does say that you can return or exchange the mattress if not completely satisfied.

With a total of five stars available, the Sweetnight Breeze has scored 4.6. There are some rave reviews from customers who have struggled in the past with a bad back but on this mattress, the pain has now gone. The 12 inches provides plenty of support and even tough it says it can take up to 72 hours to recover from being wrapped up in packaging, some have said it takes less time.

On the other hand, the negatives are the lingering odor and the impressions which are left after a few months of use. 

If you crave a plush (soft) and supportive sleep experience then this mattress has your name on it, not Lucid!

Four layers
There's 12 layers of loveliness with this mattress which promises to fulfil all your sleep experience dream. To start at the top there's a latex-like foam which offers a soft yet supportive feel which will help to ease pressure points, without leaving lasting impressions. Two-inches of ventilated gel memory foam layer will help to regulate body temperature and increase circulation, with an additional one inch of foam to help with motion transfer.

Now onto that base foam which sets this Lucid mattress apart from the rest... there's 12 inches of dense bamboo charcoal infused support foam which provides extra stability and full body support. It also helps keep your mattress smelling fresh thanks to its natural hypoallergenic properties, which is nice to know.

What do you get for your money?
You'll get a 10 year manufactures warranty when you opt for this mattress. There's no mention of a trial though, so try test in store if you can unless you already know this is the mattress for you.

All in all, it's received 4.5 out of 5 stars from reviewers on Amazon. Customers all sing it's praises for the price, support and level of motion transfer. One reviewer says: "every morning I wake up feeling great.." with others raving about how much better they are now sleeping.

The negatives are that it is too firm for some and that it sags after a few weeks of use, although there are not many of these comments.

A hybrid mattress generally offers a decent level of support for side, front and back sleepers and this one from Amazon is no exception.

Overall it's scored 4.2 out of 5 reviews on Amazon with rave reviews being shared about how it helps to relieve any aches and pains during sleeping. Those who have awarded the mattress four stars were very complimentary.

On the flip side it seems like the mattress takes a while longer than the disclosed 72 hours to fully expand for some. Stains have also been present upon removing the mattress from the box, but this doesn't seem like a common occurrence. You will need some help to lift it, too, because it's heavy.
