What are Black Friday home deals?

Black Friday is a big savings events both in store and online showcasing deals and discounts on the first Friday after Thanksgiving. This year's Black Friday deals are likely to begin Friday November 29, 2024, though some retailers can soft launch some sale picks earlier.

Black Friday home deals include furniture, home appliances, DIY kit and equipment, and most any other item you can think of in the home, including decor (think wall art and trinkets) and soft furnishings (such as bedding, curtains, and cushions).

While retailers usually anticipate demand and stock up, items do sell out — and quick. If you've had your eye on something for your home for a while, it's best to get it as early as possible during Black Friday home deals to avoid disappointment.

Top tips for finding Black Friday home deals

  • Sign up to mailing lists: Subscribe to newsletter lists from your favorite retailers ahead of Black Friday to be informed of deals as they drop. You can also sign up for Real Homes newsletters because we will be sharing the best home deals on Black Friday.
  • Be prepared to research: Retailers will put some of their best deals on homepages and top pages, but also the ones the stock they want to get rid of, or items they believe will get the most traffic to their site. This is why it pays to navigate away from the main Black Friday landing pages. If you know what product you are after, head to that section of the retailer's site and get ready to scroll.
  • Check out the lesser-known brands: The biggest brands may have bulk buying power which leads to some of the best discounts, but they will also be the busiest sites and stock is more likely to go quickly. Look for lesser-known retailers (check their reviews on Trustpilot first) and see if they stock the products you are after.
  • Use deal tracker sites: We evaluate how good a deal is by using price-checker sites like camelcamelcamel to monitor retailer pricing.

What the difference between Cyber Week and Black Friday?

In the past, Cyber Week deals have focused on electronics, including small kitchen appliances and are a great time to snap up gifts before Christmas. It's also a good chance to bag great items you missed out on Black Friday.

It's not uncommon for retailers to sell off older appliance models before a new release lands just in time for Christmas so if you're buying for a tech geek who wants the most up-to-date gadget, check news on new launches before you buy.

When do Black Friday and Cyber Week home deals start in 2024?

We anticipate that Black Friday will officially begin on Friday November 29, 2024. Saying this, in 2023 many retailers slashed their prices as early as November 1.

Cyber Week usually begins on the first Monday after Thanksgiving, and in 2024, will likely fall on Monday December 2.
