<p>The KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry is a great choice for kitchens with limited space where you can’t buy a separate air fryer, toaster oven, toaster, and dehydrator.</p><p>It’s also a great alternative to a full-size oven when preparing side or even main dishes since it preheats so quickly. A super-legible digital display and simple control panel are designed for easy use, and a convection fan helps to ensure even cooking.</p><p>Other features, like a built-in timer and a preheat time of under four minutes, make this one of the <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/buying-guides/the-best-air-fryers">best air fryers</a> on the market. See how I got on testing seven of the 12 cook functions.</p><div class="fancy-box"><div class="fancy_box-title">KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry: Quick Menu</div><div class="fancy_box_body"><p class="fancy-box__body-text"><strong>1.</strong> <a data-analytics-id="inline-link" href="#section-kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry-product-specifications">Product specifications</a><br><strong>2</strong>. <a data-analytics-id="inline-link" href="#section-what-i-thought-of-the-kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry">The short review</a><br><strong>3</strong>. <a data-analytics-id="inline-link" href="#section-setting-up-the-kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry">Setting up the air fryer</a><br><strong>4</strong>. <a data-analytics-id="inline-link" href="#section-using-the-kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry">Using the air fryer</a><br><strong>5</strong>. <a data-analytics-id="inline-link" href="#section-cleaning-the-kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry">Cleaning the air fryer</a><br><strong>6</strong>. <a data-analytics-id="inline-link" href="#section-is-the-kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry-right-for-you">Is it right for you?</a><br><strong>7</strong>. <a data-analytics-id="inline-link" href="#section-how-we-test-air-fryers">How we test</a></p></div></div><h2 id="kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry-review">KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry review</h2><h2 class="article-body__section" id="section-kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry-specifications"><span>KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry specifications</span></h2><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:80.00%;"><img id="e3nC8D2aLTwjKDhae9poDE" name="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven branded cardboard packaging.jpg" alt="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven branded cardboard packaging" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/e3nC8D2aLTwjKDhae9poDE.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2000" height="1600" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Future / Paige Cerulli)</span></figcaption></figure><div ><table><caption>KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry</caption><thead><tr><th class="firstcol " >Model number</th><th >KCO124</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td class="firstcol " >Model name</td><td >KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry</td></tr><tr><td class="firstcol " >Dimensions (in.)</td><td >H11.3 x W17 x D16</td></tr><tr><td class="firstcol " >Capacity (liters)</td><td >21L</td></tr><tr><td class="firstcol " >Weight (pounds)</td><td >21lbs</td></tr><tr><td class="firstcol " >Voltage (volts)</td><td >120V</td></tr><tr><td class="firstcol " >Wattage (watts)</td><td >800W</td></tr><tr><td class="firstcol " >Accessories</td><td >Air fry basket, baking pan, metal drip and crumb tray, metal rack</td></tr></tbody></table></div><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:80.00%;"><img id="hHnVk3hDetmWPBqWbJZSSF" name="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry accessories on wooden table.jpg" alt="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry accessories on wooden table" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hHnVk3hDetmWPBqWbJZSSF.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2000" height="1600" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Future / Paige Cerulli)</span></figcaption></figure><h2 class="article-body__section" id="section-what-i-thought-of-the-kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry"><span>What I thought of the KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry</span></h2><p>The KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry preheats in less than four minutes, so it’s great for cooking <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/advice/air-fryer-recipe-ideas">air fryer recipes</a> or reheating foods. With just two knobs and three buttons, it’s easy to learn to use. While the design limits <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/advice/what-can-you-cook-in-an-air-fryer">what you can cook in an air fryer</a> (most whole chickens won’t fit), I was impressed by the oven&apos;s efficiency.</p><h2 class="article-body__section" id="section-setting-up-the-kitchenaid-digital-countertop-oven-with-air-fry"><span>Setting up the KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry</span></h2><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:80.00%;"><img id="zZ2BZceYrsxAMJWddfZ2uV" name="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven on wooden countertop with blue adhesive tape.jpg" alt="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven on wooden countertop with blue adhesive tape" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zZ2BZceYrsxAMJWddfZ2uV.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2000" height="1600" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Future / Paige Cerulli)</span></figcaption></figure><p>The setup process is very simple. The oven also features Start, Cancel, and Convection buttons. You can figure out how to operate it in just a few minutes. </p><h3 class="article-body__section" id="section-choosing-settings"><span>Choosing settings</span></h3><p>When you select a setting, the oven automatically displays a suggested temperature and cooking time. The instruction manual also provides some time recommendations for air frying. </p><p>Since the oven offers two rack positions, you do need to pay attention to the recommended rack position for each setting. When testing the bagel function, I had the rack positioned too low and burned the bottom of the bagel. </p><p>I quickly realized that I should use the higher rack position for most cooking settings, and didn’t have additional issues. </p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:80.00%;"><img id="N9sHHRpiWAoL3c5ckzqa6k" name="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with digital display.jpg" alt="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with digital display" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/N9sHHRpiWAoL3c5ckzqa6k.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2000" height="1600" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Future / Paige Cerulli)</span></figcaption></figure><p>The oven’s digital display is large, so I had no trouble changing the temperature and cooking times. Once set, it provides a countdown of cooking time that I could see from across my kitchen. </p><p>The timer was quiet, and I had difficulty hearing it from the next room while the television was on. The oven’s automatic shutoff feature stops the cooking cycle once the timer goes off, so even if I didn’t hear the timer right away, it didn’t burn the food. </p><h3 class="article-body__section" id="section-preheating-and-general-operation"><span> Preheating and general operation </span></h3><p>One of my favorite features is this oven’s rapid preheating capability. I found in every mode, the oven reached its desired temperature in three and a half minutes. That rapid preheat made it a convenient addition to my kitchen, and I found that I quickly started using it for most of my cooking needs. </p><p>The interior light remains on throughout its entire use. It’s bright and illuminates the food well, so it’s easy to keep an eye on cooking progress. On most settings, like the toast, bagel, bake, and broil settings, the oven is nearly silent.</p><p>The convection fan, which must operate during the air fry cycle, can be turned on and off for other cooking settings. Even when running, the fan is quiet. I would compare it to a desktop fan running on medium, and you could easily hold a conversation in the kitchen without feeling the need to talk over it.</p><h3 class="article-body__section" id="section-toast-and-bagel"><span>Toast and bagel</span></h3><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:80.00%;"><img id="4MKLzDBQtQSJxE9VkhvrjB" name="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven preparing toast (sliced bread) on wooden countertop.jpg" alt="KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven preparing toast (sliced bread) on wooden countertop" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/4MKLzDBQtQSJxE9VkhvrjB.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2000" height="1600" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Future / Paige Cerulli )</span></figcaption></figure><p>The toast and bagel functions display different darkness settings, and turning the dial changes the settings. this air fryer</a> in my home for several weeks. I used these criteria during the testing and review process. </p><p><strong>Unboxing</strong>: I considered the condition of the packaging and the oven when it arrived. I evaluated the types of packing materials used, including whether the materials were recyclable. I also evaluated how easily I was able to remove and assemble the oven. </p><p>The countertop oven was shipped via FedEx, and it was double-boxed. When it arrived, there was a large hole and tear through the top of the exterior box. The hole was also present in the interior box, but because the oven was so well packed with Styrofoam inserts, there was no damage to the oven, itself. </p><p>The oven and the accessories were individually wrapped in protective plastic, and the accessories were also packaged in a smaller cardboard box. Everything was in excellent condition upon unboxing.</p><p><strong>Operation</strong>: I considered my entire experience in using the oven, including how easily I could understand the instructions and operate the appliance. I evaluated how well the different cooking modes worked, and tested the oven using many different types of foods. I repeated many of those tests and looked for a quality cook. </p><p><strong>Ease of use</strong>: I also evaluated the machine’s ease of use, considering factors like how simple its operation is, the usefulness of the presets, and my experience in using the different accessories and modes. </p><p><strong>Ease of cleaning</strong>: Finally, I considered how easily I could clean the machine, including whether accessories are dishwasher-safe, and the process of cleaning the interior.</p>

<p>I don’t think I’m alone in coveting KitchenAid’s stylish appliances, with their streamlined curves and beautiful colors. The brand is known for producing practical kitchen appliances that tick the boxes for form as well as function. But they usually come with a price tag that can put them out of reach for some. And with most of the blenders available from KitchenAid costing several hundred dollars, the K150 is positively a bargain at under $100.</p><p>I was interested to see whether this budget-friendly <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/buying-guides/best-blender">blender</a> would stack up against the more expensive models in the range, some of which I’ve had the privilege to try out in the past. It is the most basic blender you can buy from KitchenAid and as such it doesn’t come with loads of accessories bundled in, nor is it the most powerful. But, not all of us need a super powerful, industrial-strength blending appliance, especially if it’s just for the odd milkshake or batter.</p><p>I tried it out for a week in my home putting it to the test by blending everyday soups, smoothies, and more. For general blending tasks, it’s certainly up to the job. Though if you’re a serious smoothie enthusiast looking for the silkiest possible drink, or a budding chef, it might leave you wanting more. Read on to find out more about its strengths and weaknesses.</p><h2 id="tldr-what-i-thought-of-the-kitchenaid-k150-blender">TLDR: what I thought of the KitchenAid K150 blender</h2><p>The KitchenAid K150 is a good all-rounder and despite being low cost with just three speeds, it can blitz and liquidize its way through most foods and is more than capable of crushing ice. Whether you’re making smoothies or soup, it’ll get the job done. But the plastic jar isn’t huge so if you’re hoping to make big batches you may have to consider other models. That said, it’s easy to clean and simple to use, plus, it looks nice on the counter. </p><h2 id="testing-the-kitchenaid-k150-blender">Testing the KitchenAid K150 blender</h2><h2 id="the-techy-bits">The techy bits</h2><ul><li><strong>Material</strong>: BPA free plastic jar</li><li><strong>Capacity</strong>: 48 oz blender jar</li><li><strong>Settings</strong>: 3 speeds plus ice crush/ pulse</li><li><strong>Power</strong>: 650 Watts</li><li><strong>Dishwasher safe</strong>: yes</li><li><strong>Other features</strong>: Intelli-speed motor control, soft start</li></ul><h2 id="unboxing-the-kitchenaid-k150-blender-xa0">Unboxing the KitchenAid K150 blender </h2><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:80.00%;"><img id="HHkNok8rDRtTnUKwwvPJVe" name="Both-boxes.jpg" alt="KitchenAid K150 packaging" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/HHkNok8rDRtTnUKwwvPJVe.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2000" height="1600" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Helen McCue)</span></figcaption></figure><p>When the parcel first arrived, I was somewhat concerned as the box was way bigger than I would expect for a blender. But it turns out the inner box was a more typical size and for some reason, it was just packed in a secondary box that was double the size. When I opened the blender box and found the blender sandwiched between two thick chunks of Styrofoam it did make me audibly sigh with frustration. It’s such a horrible packing material and I hope KitchenAid is working on replacing it with cardboard that’s easier to recycle.</p><p>The blender lifted from the box fully assembled, I peeled off the stickers and rinsed the jar and lid to remove any dust and manufacturing residues, then it was ready to go. There’s nothing else in the box other than a manual. And if like me, you already have an appliance for every possible situation, you’ll be pleased by the lack of additional accessories. But if you do want personal blender jars, these are available to buy separately.</p><h2 id="first-impressions">First impressions</h2><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:80.00%;"><img id="bmBzyPBMPRJNQvCnpZHQfh" name="Straight out of box.jpeg" alt="KitchenAid K150 straight out of the box" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/bmBzyPBMPRJNQvCnpZHQfh.jpeg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2000" height="1600" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Helen McCue)</span></figcaption></figure><p>Unlike some of the more expensive blenders I’ve reviewed from KitchenAid, which consist of a heavy die-cast metal base, this one has a plastic base, so it doesn’t have the same sturdiness. That’s not to say it’s flimsy or poor quality though and I do appreciate that when buying a blender for under $100 there’s only so much you can expect. What you do get though, is the unmistakable KitchenAid style and that’s a big bonus.</p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3200px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="BufDb7vbJQ63zo2gAuNX4o" name="Close up of controls.jpeg" alt="Close up of KitchenAid K150 controls" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/BufDb7vbJQ63zo2gAuNX4o.jpeg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3200" height="1800" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Helen McCue)</span></figcaption></figure><p>The chunky dial on the front of the base offers up just three speed levels or there’s a dual-purpose pulse and ice crush setting. There’s no twisting to lock the jar onto the base, it just slots straight on and the handle can sit to either the left or right side depending on your dominant hand.</p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:80.00%;"><img id="yYwtRLwrd2iGZd3HpM4dAP" name="KitchenAid-K150-blender-parts-in-kitchen.jpg" alt="KitchenAid K150 blender parts in kitchen" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yYwtRLwrd2iGZd3HpM4dAP.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2000" height="1600" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Helen McCue)</span></figcaption></figure><p>One of my main first impressions was that the jar is quite small, so it won’t suit those looking to blend large capacities, but at 48 oz it’s easily big enough for a couple of smoothies or a small batch of soup. The lid pushes straight down and has a lip on one corner to help with removing it, there’s also a removable insert so that you can pour in extra ingredients without having to remove the entire lid. </p><p>Disappointingly though, it lacks any safety features to stop it being switched on when the lid isn’t in place, which may be a consideration if you have little ones around.</p><h2 id="crushing-ice-and-making-blended-ice-drinks">Crushing ice and making blended ice drinks</h2><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3200px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="3hq2Lyg46VtZEK7RmQRgg5" name="Crushed-ice-in-the-KitchenAid-K150.jpg" alt="Crushed ice in the KitchenAid K150 blender" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3hq2Lyg46VtZEK7RmQRgg5.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3200" height="1800" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Helen McCue)</span></figcaption></figure><p>The pulse function doubles as the ice crush function, which means you have to hold the dial in place while blitzing or it automatically flicks back to the off position. All of the ingredients were blended, with no obvious lumps or pieces of spinach leaf. Though I did notice some small gritty pieces of flaxseed and almond had settled in the bottom of my glass. Personally, I like pulpy smoothies and when I add ingredients like flaxseed and nuts I expect a bit of grittiness. But if you want a blender that can completely obliterate these ingredients into a liquid, this won’t be the blender for you.</p><p>As you’d expect, it’s at its loudest at the highest speed and hit around 83dB on my noise meter, which is a typical noise level for a blender, but not uncomfortably noisy. And the defined pouring lip on the jar makes it easy to pour out liquids without spilling or dripping.</p><h2 id="blending-soup">Blending soup</h2><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:80.00%;"><img id="xDuSmJhLih6vAzSHgp34Jn" name="Pea-soup-before-blending-in-the-KitchenAid-K150-blender.jpg" alt="Pea soup before blending in the KitchenAid K150 blender" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xDuSmJhLih6vAzSHgp34Jn.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2000" height="1600" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Helen McCue)</span></figcaption></figure><p>I made a speedy pea and mint soup, which is a regular lunch choice for me on account of it being so quick to make as well as healthy. The manual says the blender jar can be used for hot ingredients so long as the center cap stays in place and you start off at a slow speed. So I poured the hot pea and stock mixture in, added some fresh mint, and switched it on to speed one.</p><p>I quickly moved through the speeds so that it was blending on the highest of the three speeds. There were no lumps or pieces of unblended peas or mint, it was a smooth soup made in under 10 minutes, what’s not to love?</p><h2 id="cleaning-the-kitchenaid-k150-blender">Cleaning the KitchenAid K150 blender</h2><p>With three different ways to wash the jar, getting it clean is quick and easy. The most hassle-free option is to wash the jar and lid in a dishwasher. But I must say, it’s not always necessary and washing it by hand is easy thanks to its small size. Unlike some blender jars, the blade assembly doesn’t unscrew, so it helps if you have a dishwashing brush that you can use to remove residues from around the sharp blades. But the base is rounded so there are no areas for food to get lodged.</p><p>Alternatively, adding warm water and some dishwashing liquid and running it on speed 3 for 15-20 seconds is an easy way to loosen stubborn foods, so that all it needs is a quick rinse and wipe. Likewise, the curvy base and chunky control dial are easily wiped clean and rarely get dirty.</p><h2 id="how-does-the-kitchenaid-k150-compare-to-other-juicers">How does the KitchenAid K150 compare to other juicers?</h2><p>If you can find a bit of extra cash in the pot, the <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/reviews/kitchenaid-k400-artisan-blender-review"><u>KitchenAid K400</u></a> is a great upgrade. Not only does it come with a built-to-last diecast metal base, but there are plenty of color options to choose from so you can style it to suit your kitchen design. Furthermore, with five speeds as well as three auto programs to choose from, there’s added functionality as well as a larger 56 oz jar. However, at $289.99 it’s almost three times the price, which will be difficult to swallow if your budget is tight.</p><p>Alternatively, for those looking for a high-powered blender that can make nut butter, smoothie bowls, and blended drinks to-go, the <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/reviews/ninja-foodi-smoothie-bowl-maker-review"><u>Ninja Foodi Smoothie Bowl Maker and Nutrient Extractor</u></a> is worth considering. This very powerful blender can blitz through the toughest frozen ingredients, and it’ll only set you back an extra $20. The downside is that it doesn’t come with a full-size blending jar. </p><h2 id="should-you-buy-the-kitchenaid-k150-blender">Should you buy the KitchenAid K150 blender?</h2><p>If you want to adorn your kitchen counter with a covetable KitchenAid appliance, this blender is an affordable way to get there. But it’s more than that, it’s a decent blender that will cover the majority of your everyday general blending requirements. But, if a large capacity is important to you, or if you really want a high-powered blender that is capable of pulverizing and liquidizing even the toughest ingredients to a silky-smooth liquid, you’ll probably need to spend a bit more to get a model that meets your needs.</p>

<p>The KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper is available in both the UK and the US. In the States, it’s known as the KitchenAid KFCB519ER Cordless Chopper, and in the UK you can find it available on the KitchenAid website. </p><p>There’s no denying that a cord-free kitchen counter looks a little easier on the eye, but can a cordless chopper live up to its corded counterparts? We put the KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper to the test in our review, trying out all its functions and considering how easy it is to use and clean. </p><p>The verdict? This is a lovely addition to your kitchen, but where it really shines is its portability. It is one of the <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/us/buying-guides/best-food-processor"><u>best food processors</u></a> you can buy for convenience, but it’s a little small for something so expensive. You can take this chopper on the go to cookouts, picnics and camping trips, making it a great way to expand your outdoor cooking capabilities.  </p><ul><li>Shopping in the UK? <a href="https://www.kitchenaid.co.uk/food-processors/859711626360/cordless-food-chopper-1.19l-5kfcb519-matte-black" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Buy direct from the KitchenAid store</a></li></ul><h2 id="what-x2019-s-in-the-box">What’s in the box?</h2><figure class="van-image-figure " data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:700px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:75.14%;"><img id="2tC9Svhs8GfW3cn4pv9QFi" name="KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper review use.jpg" alt="KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper review" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/2tC9Svhs8GfW3cn4pv9QFi.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="700" height="526" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=""><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: KitchenAid)</span></figcaption></figure><ul><li><strong>Capacity: </strong>5 cups/1.19 litres</li><li><strong>Attachments: </strong>Multi-purpose stainless steel blade, Whisk accessory</li><li><strong>Speed settings: </strong>2</li><li><strong>Recharge time: </strong>2 hours</li><li><strong>Battery life: </strong>40 onions</li><li><strong>Charger: </strong>Included</li></ul><p>This cordless chopper arrives with two attachments. The one you’ll use the most is the multipurpose blade, but there’s also a whisking accessory which slots neatly onto the work bowl. Once you’ve attached the bowl onto the base and the lid onto the bowl, it’s just a case of pressing down on the notched lid that overhangs the handle and your chopper will begin to whiz. It’s easy to do one-handed, and I could imagine myself grilling a chicken with one hand while I blend up a salsa verde with the other. There are two speed settings on the KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper, which can be adjusted by sliding along the dial on the base. Adjacent to these is the charging port.</p><h2 id="how-long-does-the-battery-last-xa0">How long does the battery last?  </h2><p>KitchenAid claims that one battery charge can chop up to 40 onions, which isn’t a time metric we’ve used before but it feels fairly accurate. I was really impressed by the battery life on the KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper. I only needed to charge it once in the process of testing, and I used it for about three weeks. </p><p>You can absolutely take this chopper with you on a trip and unless you’re doing some serious cooking, the battery running out won’t be a problem. Even if it does run out, charging time is around two hours and even a short charge will give it a new lease of life. </p><h2 id="what-does-the-kitchenaid-cordless-food-chopper-look-like-xa0">What does the KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper look like?  </h2><figure class="van-image-figure " data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:1200px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:75.17%;"><img id="3Rvgec7h7UjqCMWFhNyMrd" name="KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper lifestyle.jpg" alt="KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper review" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3Rvgec7h7UjqCMWFhNyMrd.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="1200" height="902" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=""><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: KitchenAid)</span></figcaption></figure><p>For those who have a KitchenAid stand mixer, it’s nice to know this chopper comes in the basic colours you’ll find on the <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/buying-guides/best-stand-mixer"><u>best stand mixers</u></a>. That includes Blue Velvet, Empire Red, Matte Black and White. The base is plastic though, which was a surprise to me as I associate KitchenAid with high-quality metal materials. At first I was a little disappointed that the plastic design felt a little on the lightweight side, but it does make this mini chopper immensely portable, weighing just under four pounds .</p><h2 id="what-it-x2019-s-like-to-use-the-kitchenaid-cordless-food-chopper">What it’s like to use the KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper?</h2><p>Using this cordless chopper is nothing short of delightful. In the past I’ve thought that cordless kitchen appliances can be a little gimmicky, but you don’t realise quite how convenient they can be until you use them. I was able to take this chopper anywhere - that included parts of the kitchen that had no power sockets, and even outdoors when reviewing some of the <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/us/buying-guides/best-grill"><u>best grills</u></a>. If you love to <a href="https://www.realhomes.com/us/buying-guides/best-gas-bbqs"><u>barbecue</u></a>, this will be a game-changer. I used it to make all sorts - guacamole, chopped onions, salad dressings and aioli, and I think it would be a real game-changer for taking on trips or cooking outdoors.  </p><h2 id="using-the-multipurpose-blade">Using the multipurpose blade</h2><figure class="van-image-figure " data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3024px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:100.00%;"><img id="YSouSq5V3kgjuS8pGCABRX" name="20210224_180230.jpg" alt="KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper review" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/YSouSq5V3kgjuS8pGCABRX.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3024" height="3024" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=""><span class="caption-text">My guacamole came together fast and tasted great.  </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Future)</span></figcaption></figure><p>The multipurpose blade is powerful and easy to use. It’s great for chopping onions, garlic and other vegetables, and I found that it blitzed evenly and quickly. </p><p>I’ve also chopped wet ingredients in this mini chopper, including a marinara sauce. It only took a few seconds to smooth my chopped tomatoes out to my desired consistency. </p><p>The inside of the plastic bowl is ridged, which does make it difficult to clear out completely. Things can get stuck in the ridges and even though it’s a dishwasher-safe bowl, it does make it difficult to clean by hand. </p><h2 id="using-the-whisking-accessory">Using the whisking accessory</h2><figure class="van-image-figure " data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3024px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:100.00%;"><img id="5SvPy9hQHddhVLtrA4eVQa" name="20210226_125543.jpg" alt="KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper review" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5SvPy9hQHddhVLtrA4eVQa.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3024" height="3024" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=""><span class="caption-text">The mayonnaise was thick and creamy.  </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Future)</span></figcaption></figure><p>I made a lemon and herb mayonnaise in the KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper and it came out brilliantly. It thickened out in a few minutes, and I was confident that it wouldn’t split because of the slow-pour drizzle basin in the lid. </p><p>One thing I would say about using this mini food chopper is because you’ll need to have your thumb on the lid while it’s chopping, it’s harder to use the drizzle basin. This requires your other hand, whereas when I make sauces in my regular food processor I can switch it on and pay full attention to the sauce. </p><h2 id="is-it-easy-to-clean">Is it easy to clean?</h2><p>As I said, all of the attachments for the KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper are dishwasher-safe. The base wipes clean thanks to its smooth design. </p><p>After cleaning the mixing bowl in the dishwasher a few times I noticed that the clear inside of the handle is prone to catching sediment and other scraps. This is unpleasant, and because of the small and hard-to-reach areas, when the sediment gets stuck it’s virtually impossible to remove. While it’s perfectly usable after this happens, it does slightly get in the way of the visual appeal. The same happens with the drizzle basin, which is also a little hard to clean by hand. </p><h2 id="should-you-buy-the-kitchenaid-cordless-food-chopper-xa0">Should you buy the KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper? </h2><p>I would recommend this food chopper to those who want a new toy for the kitchen, but it&apos;s by no means an essential. As a food processor it does work very well, with a surprising amount of power for something cordless and rechargeable. It&apos;s good to have two speeds to choose from, and it&apos;s also very easy to use. </p><p>Where the KitchenAid Cordless Food Chopper will really shine is in an outdoor cooking space or somewhere without any power sockets. Its battery has an impressive life and it&apos;s very lightweight. </p><h2 id="about-this-review-and-the-reviewer">About this review, and the reviewer</h2><p>Millie Fender is an editor at <em>Real Homes</em>, specialising in small appliances and all things cooking.
